No. They are extraordinary times, which is my way of saying people who wouldn't have been listened to 20 years ago are suddenly in a position of noisy power and can make their opinions heard. This isn't always a good thing, as each human is capable of being an asshole ... but overall I think the internet has given better legs to the idea that "respecting minorities is not mutually exclusive from respecting human beings period."

Also, I love how the governor is obviously afraid of the same thing happening to him that is happening to Pence. He won't say that, of course, but that's totally the deal. Pence is making a play for Teabagger/Koch backing in 2016 or 2020, and ... well, it's not going exceptionally well, is it?

The Christian Right and their government patsies have finally met their match. I am continually impressed and emboldened because people are speaking out and condemning these laws or the threat of passage of such laws.

It's taken the internet to give voice to anyone and everyone who is looked down upon by people who use a book to claim authority and rights over the rest of us. We have the beginnings of a social revolution on our hands.

I just hope people take it to the voting booth. It's the only way shit is going to change. We can post, tweet, reblog and/or protest all we like, but unless people vote these asshats out of office, the same shitty treatment of anyone who knows a book should not run your life is going to continue.

That is...huh. Okay. Well then.

Positive: It's finally becoming a recognized asshole thing to say "The Gays, Let's Not Treat Them Like People" so, even when this sort of bass-ackwards political speak happens, they're tripping all over themselves not to *look* like bigots. Failing, mostly, but that's change on some level, right?

I'm trying to see a silver lining here.

The "silver lining" as it were is the old people who do this won't be around too many more decades to enforce and perpetuate their outdated attitudes. I use quotes because nobody wishes death on anyone, but ... it's a fact that you either adapt or you become obsolete, sadly.
