I haven't been inside a Wal-Mart in a few months, so I haven't had the chance to see in person how the wage increase has affected the place.
I'm always curious if there's an employee morale uptick after a raise, do the employees feel better, work a little harder, have a slightly more kind and friendly attitude after their bosses give them a raise, or do they feel that "tI deserved it, goddammit" and their attitude stays the same?
Well, I like my job better when I know my hard work is appreciated. It's all about attitude and usually those people who have a good attitude as a whole do a better job than the Negative Nellies. You have to be humble though because at the same time, companies feel they owe you nothing and as I've written, if you screw up, you're just a name on a piece of paper to them.
In conversation with aquaintances over the weekend about Wal-Mart we pretty much agree the local store is a product of the current management, not the wage increase and less employees. It's been obnoxious for a while and was better when the previous manager was there. He retired. He would ring register when they were very busy/short staffed. I witnessed it. That's someone who treats their employees well.
