To everyone who has any idea, which job/career is more in demand and more stable - as a web designer/developer or graphic artist?I am in need of any advice. I plan to take a certificate program and right now, I'm not so sure which of the two should I take -- which of the two will be more profitable to me as I'm still on that stage of my life

Really? You took IT? Wow I never knew that. Hehehe! :)
Oh dude, I'm still at a lost. I mean, I would LOVE to pursue my passion for arts. Being a successful graphic artist is a dream come true. But... There's always a but isn't it? I heard that most graphic artists are freelancers and it's not a stable career. As with web designing... well, I think it's a bit more "in demand" than the other one, since it's still related to IT more or less(and admittedly IT is one of the top careers right now).
Hmm.. you know ranting about it maybe I'm just afraid of this another risk, another change in my life, that I'll take. Really, the choice is right there, staring in my face. All I need to do is grasp it, right?
*sigh*
*hugs* Thanks for the advice. Much appreciated. ♥

I mean different people have different views. But it seems that Web Designer is more stable, at the beginning, compared to Graphic Designing. If you want to become a graphic designer, you can start in a graphic designing company, the pay is more stable than freelancing, but the designs you are doing are pretty limited, since you are not the choosing what you want. You can start there, gain lots of connection through the company and then when you have enough connections you can do freelancing.
This is something I found on the net:
Web Designer V.S Graphic Designer, short article, but it briefly talks about Web ( ... )

And now, finally, I get to have the courage to take the first step in achieving my dreams. Yay! xD
Thanks for the article, dude! It helped a lot. :) Actually, I'm kind of in between. I get the web designer's side, as well as the graphic artist's side too. Idk... but from what I've noticed nowadays, you have to have both sides for you be "in demand" in the industry. That's what I'm trying to achieve, by taking up web designing courses (now I've finally decided on it). I can still practice my passion for arts by... well, practicing.
Thanks so much for the advice! *hugs*

I vote both. So you can integrate better and you won't have to rely on outsourcing someone else's graphics. And you can have more control over your creative vision.
Do you have PayPal? If you do, maybe you can sell your services on Etsy.com so you can reach potential foreign clients. It's a site selling anything and everything handmade, and some graphic artists and web designers are selling custom-made banners, headers, icons, even layouts. Around 2 months ago I paid $20 for a personalized banner and matching icon (I should have hired you instead, haha!). I just gave the specs and what I didn't like, she asked me some questions to have an idea of what I'm looking for, and then she e-mailed me the finished work.

Oh wow dude! Thanks so much! I'll definitely check it out. ;)
Actually, I'm thinking of venturing first on web design since... yknow I need the money and it seems to be the more in demand compared to the other one. But that doesn't mean I'll leave the other one behind! I'll still try to be a graphic artist by practicing my... ahem... skills. Hehehe! At least, I think, I'll still be satisfied with what I'll have.
OMG is that Chuck? That better be Blair...
