so, i didn't realize that all of the quotes at the beginnings of the golden compass books were from "paradise lost" until way after i'd read them, and then (being me) i forgot all about it again.

then, i'm reading the poem this year and encounter "in his hand he took the golden compasses, prepared in God's eternal store, to circumscribe this universe..."

"o YEAH! holy crap!" (these were my thoughts)
