Parting and reunion...

Wow, it's been a long while... but that's life right now. I have spent the last few weeks getting ready for a trip to Northern California with my band, Mandala (www.mandalaband.net -- too lazy to look up how to link that right now). I had agreed to go way back in December, knowing I was pregnant and probably would have a little baby at this time. ( Read more... )

Soooo happy to hear everyone survived! anonymous September 28 2007, 20:30:21 UTC
Hi Andi!
I was thinking (and praying) for Neil and Ju last weekend and hoping they were doing OK. Glad to hear that you all survived! I can't imagine what it was like to leave Ju for the first time, but you did it and you are all stronger for it (I hope). Looking forward to seeing you all again soon!
Love,
Valerie
PS - I finally read all the IVF stuff and was suprised to see you had to take Lupron first. I have been on a 3-month course of that myself for another reason and it SUCKS! Can't wait for it to end.

Oh Andi,

Next time you're in Cali remember: when referring to the freeways, you should always use the local title, e.g. "the Golden State freeway" or "the Pomona freeway" whenever possible. Or, if you don't know/can't remember the proper name, you can use the interstate number, but you'll never say the "I", and you'll always precede the number with the article "the", as in "the 10", "the 405", et &. I think it's because California without freeways is like Texas without the electric chair - it's just such a part of the state identity.

Ah, Mike, thank you for that information. I do now recall hearing my (San Diego resident) sister refer to Interstate 5 as "the five." This does make sense. I will be sure to use this vernacular the next time I'm out there. :)

I'm trying to think what Philly thing is as comparable, and I just don't know. though, highway-wise, they still refer to I-476 as "The Blue Route" -- even on traffic reports on TV and radio. There's never been a sign labeling this road as such, but somehow everyone knows what they're talking about. Sheesh. People are weird.
