It was two days before Christmas, and the mall was packed. If the money weren’t so good, there was no way in hell that Kristen would be working in retail during the holiday season. In fact, she thought, this very well could be hell - pushy soccer moms, screaming babies and obnoxious teenagers with way too much money worked well enough for eternal torment. Stress and hair-pulling without any actual excitement.
Reaching up to put a box back on the shelf, she felt someone walk into her for the seven hundred forty-sixth time that day. God, someone just kill her now-
"Pardon me."
Well. Mark that down as the first time that anyone had the decency to apologize, she thought. She turned her head as best she could while bodily shoved against a shelf and saw a trio of guys walking away - two taller dark-haired ones and a shorter one wearing a really gay-looking shirt. Must have been one of them, she figured, and began wondering which one of them has spoken. Not the short one, she thought - somehow the voice didn’t match. Maybe… the
