Dear Lily,
Arclight are presently negotiating a deal with a US distributor, so
chances are it will be!
Best - Emjay Rechsteiner, producer
Moonlight is being (hopefully) being released and Emjay Rechteiner e-mailed me. This is all so exciting.
The box is a half-inch taller this season, and I don’t think any box set will ever contain the coin again. I did receive the Commemorative Coin Holder in the mail a few days ago though; it’s pretty in all its cardboard glory, the images are nice and crisp. I’ll find a frame when it’s full.
I’m not sure my comments are overwhelming good, as I thought they would be. The first dozen episodes were amazing, while the aftereffects (with the exception of Fins, Femmes & Gems) were either dull or a display of selfish, horrid characteristics which I wouldn’t have guessed were buried inside these characters. Though a larger amount of episodes were fused with all this intensity and heartbreak (with an occasional interlude of comedy), the finale somehow managed to lack this.
Good things: The Debts were perfectly stunning, maybe just because I love the Mongolian tundra and dirty, lame, and dreadlocked Xena. Borias is my favorite male lover (not there is a huge selection, all the rest seem to be lackluster or despicable) of Xena’s. And it’s actual fondness rather than just tolerance. He and Xena have this cruel and ravenousness appetite for each other, which is so fun to see played out. Fitting two of Xena’s previous relationships (learning about her past is regularly enthralling) was genius - the animal passion and competition with Borias, the gentle intimacy with Lao Ma (I love how h ungry and lingering these kisses for life are. Mm, sexy and practical).
Although I’m only half-done with this and still eager to speak of it, I’m getting tired and will lose any eloquence I had. I shall continue Xena blathering in the mor n ing.

2. The Bitter Suite
3. Fins, Femmes & Gems
4. Maternal Instincts

I’ve started obsessively creating character-Barbies again. It’s incredibly satisfying when you get an unexpected match. I used Shannon Dohert y as Xena, and a later edition Baby Spice for Callisto, wh ich both w ork amazingly well (I’ll get photographs when I’m finished with their clothes), with the exception of the eye color - Dorherty’s are an olive tone, while Xena’s are that striking blue; Ba by Spice has blue, Callisto had brown, but I’m letting that go beca use in A Necessary Evil her eyes turn blue (I’m so tricky), and I’ll fix Xena’s eyes later. I’m using an early, flat-chested Skipper for Solan, and a Stacie for young Hope (her hair still needs to be crimped and altered to a strawberry blond).
T o convey the height difference and general girlishness, I’ll have to use Skipper (as opposed to Barbie) for Gabrielle. However, I only own brunette Skippers, so I’m going to Unique’s on Mo nday (half-price day!) to find a blond for her.
I’ve also been toying with the idea of making Bandits dolls, but Luna’s facial structure and Emma’s curls always deter me from this. If I could get my hands on an Irish Barbie (damn you, flood! I could have had an Emma already!), and accept that I’m never going to get a strong resemblance to Luna, it would be a quite fun (and the clothes wouldn’t be a handsewn burden, for once). Maybe I’ll be lucky at Unique’s this week.
