Full set of memories - that's the Goa'uld from Stargate. They were a parasitic alien that not only stole bodies of humans and other sentient beings, but also genetically modified them into being incubators for their young, a slave army and just for their general amusement. This was really a side line into conquering the none universe and fighting among themselves for absolute power.

Although, I think they had memories from both parents.

Thanks. The reason I went with everyone-both-gendered was to give everyone the chance to pass along memories. But a gendered world is interesting as well, in that males become dead-ends for passing along memories. I'm sure that in such a world, males would be second class citizens, viewed as ephemeral offshoots of their mothers. I could see males inventing writing, as a way to communicate their thoughts and memories onwards.

Love this idea. I suppose that's why I read and have encouraged my son to read; so we can share memories from people who came before us.
