Morning - so this isn't a real post - well I guess it is real in that it exists, but it is not real in that it is not part of any sort of "journaling." I am looking to help out a friend who may be looking to move out to work in the DC area fairly shortly. They will be looking for a place along these lines ( Read more... )

What size/ weight/ how many dog(s)? Many renters/ rental companies put a cap on the size of dog at either 35 or 65 lbs, and that can make a big difference.

Also, Does their need to be yard immediately accessible (As in small private back yard) or just nearby park/ walking areas?

Also, what does "near" the metro constitute. Are we talking 5-20 minute walk, 5-20 minute bike ride, or 5-20 minute drive.

Just need a little more help with narrowing down the search terms.

The price range for this sort of place in VA is going to be 1350-1700 without utilities. In my recent search for an apartment, I looked at a 3 Bd house with AC that was 1 mile from the WFC metro (long walk, short Bike) for 1600. It had its own yard, a recently redone kitchen, and accepted dogs under 65lbs. I also looked at a 2 bd condo about 1 mile from the vienna metro for around 1370. That didn't have its own yard, but the condo complex had a lot of green, a creek, and some nearby bike/walking trails. Also accepted dogs under 65 lbs.

Anything closer to the metro (ie. within line of sight or <5 min walk) has a high premium and less good walking space. The condos also tend to be newer luxury style and less pet friendly. We're talking 1600-2000 in price and a decent walk to get to the areas where you'd have to walk the dog ( ... )
