The question is, Should the US act in the best interest of itself or of the world as a whole? The two candidates have completey opposing answers to this question. Kerry speak of a world coalition that we must have before we decide to do anything. If we do not have the complete backing and support from the UN countries and if they are not willing

I also agree with Bush's philosophy of acting in America's best interest from the perspective of America. America is an independent nation founded on the virtue of hard work. Citizens of other countries that hate America don't live in America. Our capitalist society has instilled a work ethic in most Americans; our freedom of religion has established a sense of tolerance and value in most Americans; our size and history has developed a diversity unique to Americans in different parts of our country. So why should we let other countries opinions of OUR country dictate the courses of action OUR country follows? I'm in no way saying that it is acceptable to burn all the bridges between the U.S. and the rest of the world, but acting in a country's best interest is always the president's job. Kerry is criticized for changing his stance about the issues, following the popular opinions. But when European nations are the popular opinions that dictate Kerry's opinion in our foreign policy? That's not a risk I want our country to take
