An excellent article on "Real Name" policies of Facebook and Google Plus. There is so much wrong with these policies and the frames these corporations use are those that make sense to ultra-privileged straight whites who own and run these entities, and in whose reality tunnels this does seem an issue of safety rather than the undermining of

Thank you for this link. While I use my "real name" (at least a couple of them, as you can see just on what I use here, with various definitions of "real") I know a lot of folks who can't for most of the reasons listed. FB really has never enforced it, I have a lot of friends who use various "real" names. I hope they don't get the idea that they should follow Google+ example, perhaps the outrage will convince them to not even pretend they have the policy.
