One of the greats has passed. May she travel well.
From The Children of Violence novels to Briefing For A Descent Into Hell to The Golden Notebook, she was always eye-opening and imagination-expanding. She was a great inspiration to me. I'm trying to remember when I first read her, maybe'82.

We've been deeply disturbed (like countless millions) over the appalling outcome of the Trayvon Martin case. All these years after the Civil Rights era to see that the darker your skin the less value one still has in the gaze of the US justice system really saddens me.
