Let there been jerring

I knew this day would come - when I would finally realise just how ugly a situation I have walked into. It sucks to realise that doing what is right will result in being hated from all sides by people who don't and won't get the whole picture. I'd like options that don't leave me feeling ill. I'd like solutions that don't violate my ideals and ( Read more... )

Which is easier, getting oneself back to unhated status, or making right a wrong that you've done?

I don't think I can really work on the hates/unhated scale. It will depend on how I get interpreted, which means there will be some hating, but I can hope that it won't interfer too much.

As to the making right a wrong - well most of the wrongs I might do would go unnoticed. On the spectrum of good and bad, I really only have to answer myself, which means righting is likely impossible.

I just wish the same were true for the other peoples wrongs I have to worry about righting.

Thanks.

I am moving from the "proud to be an exec" phase to the "avoiding mentioning it" phase. We will see how long that one lasts.

I have a very cold and frank response to this kind of thing: it's not your fault they're stupid/misinformed.

I can't claim complete responsibility, but I am hardly without fault in how the issues will be communicated to them.

How do advertising people get over the dirtiness of hiding the real message, the intention to sway? Once you are aware of the different ways some data can be transited, the choice of path will depend on what suits your other purposes - once the choice is yours, you can't naively communicate.

Fair enough wrt. the responsibility to communicate. Advertising people usually don't do anything deceptive: t think their intentions are quite clear.

Perhaps to you they are. I suspect it's a different story for others, like the kids who watch them betwixt cartoons on Saturday morning.

This reminds me of the time I deleted all the porn from the public SUMS computers...

Sometime, you just need to be a little self-righteous. It'll blow over eventually.

Sorry for the hijack!

I think pride probably darkens the soul, too...
