A coworker recently pointed out that I focus pretty intensely, in contrast to his approach to problem solving, management and life in general. I hadn't thought of my work and social patterns in such terms before but it does make sense, explaining why I find small talk and other superficial interactions so difficult, why I prefere to be in spaces

I don't think you are significantly more intense than anyone else I associate with on a regular basis. However, I suspect my sample is rather skewed.
