Given that there is no objective way to weight the relative importance of the various evaluation criteria in such surveys, Paul Graham once speculated that the USA Today survey of American colleges (the equivalent document South of the border) was actually constructed by adjusting the weights until the right schools came out on top; thereby making it a very accurate indicator of the reputation of various schools among USA Today editors.
