hey guess what!
My friends Nathan and Tiernen got married on Saturday. To each other.
My favorite pictures from weddings are usually of the couple during their first dance, although, this time, I was really aware of how weird it has to be to have EVERYONE STARING and taking pictures, but maybe that awkwardness/being abashed is what produces so much of the couple kind of giggling to each other that I love so much.
Brian and I were sitting at a table with Paul, who insisted that he Knows How to Win Tic-Tac-Toe and challenged Brian. Well, the result was a tie:
and when it was over, Paul was like "the way to win tic-tac-toe is to go for the corners OF COURSE; it works every time" and we were like "but Paul you didn't win. That's ... nobody won that" and he has since linked me to "How To Win at Tic Tac Toe" websites and I am like "but Paul you didn't win that game" and bah
also, we celebrated my niece's second birthday (even though that's not for another couple of weeks) and she continues to be The Cutest Thing
Her reaction to seeing the pink kitty cake she requested was a moment of sober contemplation and the command, "cut it."
and have some video

hey
and speaking of video, I have plenty of times at work when I'm filing things or doing non-computer-screen stuff where I like to have something playing in the background. I've been going a little bit insane trying to find interesting things (I go through phases with podcasts, music and video, and right now I listen to music 80% of the time and like to have some sort of video going on the rest of the time, I'm sorry podcasts I still love you and learn so much from you I WILL COME BACK TO YOU please don't forget me) and somehow I'm into stupid cooking competition shows - not like "build an entire functioning abattoir out of chocolate" but Next Food Network Star and Master Chef. Yes, I am ashamed of it. Yes, I know it's stupid to be annoyed by the manufactured drama on those shows when it's pretty much what the entire show is fueled by. I can't explain it. But actually my least favorite thing about the shows is probably the judges, especially this one guy on Master Chef (not Gordon Ramsay/Ramsey idk) who likes to stare people down while tasting their food, and I hope so much that one of these days he stabs himself through his cheek while doing that.
Anyway, today I finally had to good sense to put TED TV on autoplay on Hulu and that's been super great.
The birth of a word, for some reason, has been the highlight so far. I can't at all explain why, but the time lapse of his son learning the word "water" just really got to me.
