What doesn't make sense to me is how people against same-sex marriage say "Why do they need to get married if they are happy together already?" Then in the same breath defend how important it is for opposite-sex couples to marry. It doesn't make sense that you can serve with someone in the military for years, the next day find out that person is

Women like gay men because they are safe. With straight men, there is always the possibility that they'll decide to hit on her and ruin everything. With gay men, everyone gets to be just a person and know where they stand.
Straight men have a habit of thinking no does not mean no, so if a gay man hits on them, they don't believe they can say no and have it stick. Since the no doesn't stick when used on them.
It all boils down to sexuality being threatening, and that people do not feel equipped to deal with unwanted advances.
Just a theory. Or two.
