"So, what did you wanna talk about?" Colby poured himself a cup of lukewarm coffee.
"About your vacation days. I pulled some strings and got you next week`s Thursday
and Friday. The only question is now, if you can actually go hiking with that ankle."
"It`ll get better by then. Besides, I`m going with Charlie. How tough can it be?"
Don chuckled and Colby had an unpleasant feeling he wasn`t going to like the answer.
"I was with him last summer, and I can tell you, your in big trouble."
"How big...?"
"On the first day he wanted to go this nature route some friend had talked about.
We left at eight in the morning and came back at nine PM. I was almost dead, Charlie
wanted to go and do the same hike again the next day. I had to spend the rest of the
five day trip resting and trying to get all my cramping muscles relaxed."
Colby groaned. "I`m doomed, aren`t I?"
"Yep. I still can`t believe he actually got you to agree to this. How exactly did he do it?"
"You don`t want to know."

"... But I always suspected Don would be into that."
"You never suspected what?"
Megan and David jumped up again. Megan pressed a hand to her chest and gasped.
"Don`t do that! That was the second time today! Couple more and I`ll have a heart
attack."
"Sorry, I though you two heard me coming. So, what did you suspect?"
Megan and David exchanged looks and nodded. Megan took the lead.
"Actually, it`s good that your here. We want to ask you something."
"About some case?"
"No, about Don."
"Okay." Charlie sat down and shrugged. "What do you wanna know?"
"Well, actually it includes someone else besides Don. We started noticing some
things and they fit together. Is Don..." Megan paused to think how to put it.
"..a sexual Democrat?"
"I`m not sure what you mean."
"Is he.." Megan took a deep breath. "Is he interested in men?"
A wide smile appeared on Charlie`s face and he couldn`t hold his chuckles.
"Actually, our Dad said he had always suspected that."
"Really?" Despite everything David seemed genuinely surprised.
"Yeah, and that would explain some things. Like the amount of time Don uses
on his hair... And how he`s always buying new sun glasses and trying them on.."
Megan nodded. "So you and Alan noticed it too. Well, we think he`s seeing Colby."
Charlie bursted out in laughter. Just then, the door to the break room opened,
and Don and Colby walked out. Charlie tried to stop his laughter, but failed.
Megan decided to be frank and address the issue. "We would like to talk to
you both. We think this whole secrecy thing is unnecessary, you don`t need
to hide from us."
"What do you mean `hide`?" Don shot a dark look at Charlie who was still giggling.
"We figured it out, Don. You really should have told us from the start. We won`t
judge you."
"Would you finally get to the point?"
"Congratulations. You and Colby will make a wonderful couple."
Following this announcement Don and Colby could only stare at her and listen how
Charlie was once again laughing uncontrollably.
"Wha- Wha-Wha..." Don tried, but words just didn`t come out of his mouth.
"Don`t try to deny your true nature." Charlie grinned.
"But we`re not... I mean.."Colby was now stammering and Charlie decided that
enough was enough. He walked next to Colby and wrapped his arm around his
waist. "Okay, let`s correct this. Megan, you got part of the puzzle right."
"What part?"
"The last name."
"You mean you and Colby are..?"
Charlie nodded and this time everyone, except Don laughed.
"You know, you two are a really odd couple." David smirked. "I can`t understand what
you would see in each other."
"I`m kinda interested to hear this one too. What do you see in me?" Charlie asked
and leaned his head against Colby`s shoulder.
"Well, really big brains, obviously. Great eyes. Great smile. Great guy."
"And a real beast in bed?" Charlie offered.
Colby turned red and fixed his eyes on the floor. "And that too."
"And I see... A wonderful man, who I like a lot, and who likes me. And of course,
the packaging is a nice bonus. I think your chest is my favorite spot."
"Really?" Colby was still looking at the floor, but was now grinning.
"Really. Your chest is like a Bouncy Castle on legs."
"Okay, that`s clear, but who`s dating Don?" Megan asked.
"Nobody!" Don almost shouted. That was the first thing he has gotten out of his
mouth since the discussion started.
"You know, that blond guy in the archives just broke up-" Megan suggested, but
Don interrupted her right away.
"I`m not looking for a guy! Is that now clear? No guys for me! No blonds and no
brunettes, no redheads."
"Okay, no need to get so worked up about it." Megan looked at her watch and groaned.
"Did anyone remember to order the Chinese?"
"No.." David`s thoughts went back to Colby`s cell phone and it`s content, but decided
to save it for later. Food was now the first priority. "How about pizza? There`s that
place two blocks from here."
"Let`s go." Megan grabbed her coat. "Charlie, you`re coming with us, I want details."
Suddenly she stopped, like she had suddenly remembered something. "One more
thing before we go. The last question that still remains."
"What?" Colby could hear it in her voice. This was gonna be bad.
"How exactly did you injure your ankle?"
Colby turned red once again and alarm bells were ringing in Don`s head.
"I don`t want to know. Let`s jut go."
"No, It`s actually a funny story." Charlie smirked. "You know the blackboards in the
garage? They can be pretty slippery when they`ve just been wiped clean. He leaned
against it for support and slipped."
"They can`t be that slippery." Don knew he shouldn`t have said that as soon as the
words had left his mouth.
"It is against bare skin."
Don grabbed a hold on the nearest partition screen on one of the workstations and
started banging his head against it.
