Morgan gave up typing his report. He had heard that noise three times within the last two minutes. He turned around to face Spencer who was sitting behind his own desk, calmly reading a book with a small grin on his face.

“Do I need to ask?”
“What? Did you say something?” The genius gave him an absentminded glance.
“Yeah. I wanted to know what you’re doing. You’ve been giggling at least ten times since you started reading that thing. Some of us are still doing our reports.”
“Sorry, but I started thinking-”
“Can’t you save that for later?”
“No.”
“So what were you thinking?”
“This book. It’s about Finnish mythology.”
“And that was so funny that you need to giggle constantly?”
“No. I started thinking about all of us, which mythological figure would best suit each of us. Like..... ancient counterparts from Scandinavia.”

“I’m gonna regret asking…. But let’s hear it.”
“Well, there’s Louhi. She was a powerful old witch who ruled the land of Pohjola. She is also the main foe of the national epic Kalevala.”
“That’s too easy!”
“Was it?”
“Yeah, that’s Strauss.”
“Okay, maybe it was too easy. Then there’s Väinämöinen, an old all-knowing shaman, who had a liking for young girls.”
“Rossi.”

“That’s what I was thinking too…. This one girl actually drowned herself rather than gave up and surrendered to him.”
“To Rossi?”
“No, to Väinämöinen. The girl, Aino, later came back to taunt Väinämöinen in the form of a salmon.”
“Next one.”
“Antero Vipunen. He is a giant, buried underground and possesses some very valuable ancient incantations.”
“Garcia?”
“Right. Then there’s Lemminkäinen, who was a very good looking man and a bit too well aware of that.”
“Why are you looking at me like that?”
“What do you think?”
“I’m not like that!”

“You are. Just a little bit. But you should be glad your similarities end there.”
“Why? What happened to him?”
“You don’t want to know.”
“It’s a glorified fairy tale, I can handle it.”
“He fell in love with Louhi`s daughter. To win her over he tried to capture the black swan from the river of Tuonela. He drowned.”
“Poor bastard.”
“But he didn’t stay dead. His mother asked a blacksmith to make her a copper rake, so she could find the body from the river. After she found all the body parts, she put them back together and asked the highest god, Ukko Ylijumala, to bring him back to life with a drop of honey.”

“She raked body parts from a river? Quite a mama….”
“Yeah. I think this next one is totally Prentiss-”
“Wait a minute. If I’m the dead guy from the river, who are you?”
“Not who.” Reid blushed and closed his book.
“Then what?”
“There a thing called Sampo in the Kalevala. One side of it grinds flour, second one salt, and the third one money. I don’t make flour, salt or money, but I do spew out things constantly, whether people want me to or not.”
“I think I can see the logic in that.” Morgan admitted. “What happened to that thing? What was is…. Salmo?”
“Sampo. In the end it was destroyed.”
“Why?”
“People wanted to use it for their own purposes. One side stole it, the other side stole it back, and so on. Finally they decided to destroy it.”

“I take back what I said, I don`t see the logic in that.”
“Me neither.” Reid admitted. “You better get going with your report or we’ll be here all night.”
