Morgan`s Bad Day, Chapter 1

When the darkness faded, Morgan was laying in the middle of the floor and familiar voices were talking somewhere above him.

“I didn’t hit him that hard!”
“Your not-that-hard is pretty much the same as other people’s extra hard.”
“Are trying to talk dirty?”
“No.”
“Too bad. And don’t tell me you didn’t wanna smack him yourself.”
“I never said I didn’t want to.”
“Well, come on. I already did the preliminary work.”

Morgan forced his eyes open. Hotch grouched down to one knee, looking down on him.

“Morgan, I want you to remember two things. I am doing this as your friend, not as your boss. And secondly, I’m doing this for your own good and I hope you’ll learn your lesson.” The statement was followed by another get-together between Morgan’s face and a fist. It wasn’t as hard as the first one, but enough to fog up his mind for a minute. He hardly even noticed that Hotch and Chad had left.

Morgan didn’t even try to get up from the floor for few minutes. He just waited till the pain in his head turned from throbbing to ticking, and got up to dig out a bottle of water from the minifridge and some painkillers from his bag. He hardly had time to open the bottle before someone knocked on the door again.

“Open the door!”

Morgan swallowed few pills dry and opened the door. Detective Garrison walked in, still wearing Morgan’s shirt.

“I can’t believe I believed you!”
“Now what?”
“I ran into that bloated headcase downstairs.”
“Who?”
“Garcia. Why the hell did you lie to me? And I was totally honest about myself!”
“I didn’t lie-”
“You pretended you were happily settled down and yada-yada-yada, and right after that I hear you’ve been cheating on him with some cheap bimbo!”
“I didn’t cheat!”
“I knew you were a complete bastard back then, but I honestly believed you!”
“Would you listen-”
“Shut up, I got a stabbing waiting for me, but before I do, I wanna teach you a lesson.”
“Are you gonna hit me too?” Morgan asked carefully.

“No, I’ll show you how much cheating hurts, in a way that even a guy can understand.” She moved before Morgan could react, and her knee hit his groin. Morgan keeled over.
“Get the picture?” Garrison took the water bottle Morgan had left on the table. She emptied it on Morgan’s head. “Go to hell.”

He heard her footsteps, moving to the door. But there was just the sound of door being opened, not shut. More footsteps, this time more than one person. Morgan took a deep breath and lifted his head.

Prentiss and J.J. looked just about ready to kill.

Present

“Okay, ten minutes and I’ll close the place.” Bartender announced.

“You’ll just kick me out?” Morgan slurred. The combination of whisky and painkillers had made his speech foggy. “That’s cold. So cold. They’ll kill me and it’s your fault….”
“Not my problem.”

“I’ll take care of this.” Familiar voice announced from behind Morgan. He turned around to look at Reid, who was carrying a first aid kit. The bartender shrugged and went to the backroom.

“So…. You came out of your room.”
“Yeah. How’s your head?”
“It’s been better. And less swollen.”
“I think you’ll recover.”
“Why are you here?”
“I thought you could use some company. And possibly some medical care.”
“You’re not angry anymore?”
“No, I talked to detective Garrison. She forgot her keys here, we ended up talking and we put two and two together. She told me to say sorry for her.”
“It’s okay. I didn’t want kids anyway….”

“I haven’t talked to the others yet, but they’ll be sorry when they hear the whole story. You do understand why we draw conclusions like that, don’t you?”
“I still don’t know why!”
“We saw a woman coming out of your room half dressed. We’ve all seen that sight before.”
“Yeah, but that was before we got together.”
“I know.”
“And I didn’t do it that often. Not when we were on a case, anyway…”
“Miami, Dallas, Washington, New Jersey-”
“Okay, I did that every time I had a chance.”
“Thank you. It’s kinda touching.”
“Touching?”

“To know everyone cares enough to get upset like that. On purely sentimental level it’s quite appealing.”
“I get beaten up and you think that’s touching?”
“It couldn’t be that bad.”
“Have you ever had Chad smashing your face in?”
“No, but I knew a guy who got too cocky in one of his had-to-hand combat classes. They had to rebuilt his facial bones with metal plates.”
“You mean he went all nice and soft on me?”
“Something like  that. Are you sure you don’t need anything for that bruise?”
“Which one?”
“All of them.”
"That covers a lot of ground....."

“I could kiss them better.” Reid suggested. “We need to leave anyway, they’re closing up the bar, and you haven’t seen my room yet.”
“So you’ll just kiss my booboos better?”
“I’m a doctor, remember.”
“Did Garrison tell you what part of my body she kicked?”
“No.”
“Good, I think we’ll start the treatment from that spot. It needs some serious kissing to get better.”
