Bullpen, Quantico

“That’s it!” Morgan exclaimed and slammed his fist to his desk. “Case over, my report is done and we’re not coming in tomorrow. That’s it, we’re done and I’m going to Disneyland.”

“Morgan?” Reid called innocently from behind his own desk. “Everyone else has been ready for the last half an hour.”
“Oh….” Morgan eyed the empty bullpen. “You could have told me before, I thought I was the first one!”
“You’re always the last to finish your report. Ready to go?”
“Yeah.” Morgan scooped up his bag and followed the genius to the elevators. “When did everyone else leave?”
“Well, not everyone. Hotch is still handling some other paperwork, but he’ll be gone soon.”
“I don’t care. We have three day weekend and when we come back the Amazon-meet-Swedish-milkmaid-gone-bad is gone and my baby girl is back.”
“Has she been calling again? Garcia, not Peterson.”
“Not for a while, but she said she has some big plans. Maybe she’s too busy to call.”
“When is she ever too busy to call?”
“Maybe Kevin confiscated her phone.”

“Or maybe they’re having a really good time.” Reid smirked. “They’re on vacation, we’ll undoubtedly hear all about it when they get back.”

“When did you land?”
“Almost two hours ago.” Hotch reported. “I’m just leaving the office, I have to handle some errands on the way, but I’ll try to be quick.”
“Okay. By the way, you got any plans for the weekend?”
“No. You got something in mind?”
“Yeah. I think Hailey’s warming up to me.”
“Should I be worried?”
“She accepted my offer, we’ll start when Jack comes for the weekend.”
“What are you talking about?”
“I offered to give him some self defence lessons.”
“To Jack? He’s a little boy, he’s too young for that.”
“Hailey disagrees. And you should know what kinda trouble little boys can get into.”
“You got a point.”
“Are you worried your boy will start throwing you around?”
“No, but I’ve seen you and Morgan sparring and that scene was brutal.”
“I went easy on him, he managed to walk out on his own two feet.”
“Just barely…..”
“I’m not teaching Jack kickboxing, just some basic self defence techniques.”
“Good.”
“Maybe when he’s ten….”
“Chad.”
“Just kidding. But seriously, every kids needs a sport, and Jack got really excited when I suggested it.”
“He gets excited because you’re suggesting it. You’re not his mommy or daddy.”
“Exactly, I’m the new lighter, less-calories-better-taste alternative.”
“Let’s just put the kickboxing idea on the shelf for few more years.”
“Wait a sec….. Doorbells ringing, I gotta go.”
“I’ll be there….. Well, sooner or later.”
“Bye.”

Hotch`s house

Chad opened the door and let the man in. Agent Seymour looked more than a little bit uncomfortable.

“I was trying to find Aaron, I thought he’d be here by now. They said the plane landed ages ago.”
“Errands to run, shouldn’t take too long.”
“You’re living here too?”
“Yep.”
“So the rumours are true.”
“Depends on the rumour. You wanna come in, I just made some fresh coffee?”
“No thanks, I have enough heartburns as it is.” Seymour followed him to the living room and sat down on the couch. “I was going to talk to Aaron about this, but maybe you know something about it if you two are so close.”

“Maybe I’ll know about what?”
Seymour squirmed uncomfortable against the couch cushions and avoided Chad’s eyes.

“You know I can find out what you’re working on so just say it.”
“It was originally handled by the PD, but because there’s a chance it may have a link to one of our men, we took over the investigation.”
“What kind of investigation?”
“Take a look at this.” Seymour pulled a printed DMV sheet from his bag. “Do you know this man?”
Chad looked at the picture and almost started laughing.
“Sorry, first I thought it was someone I know, hair and the shape of the face…. No, I don’t know this guy.”
“His name was Matthew Brett. He was arrested several times over the last few years for soliciting. He didn`t have a current address anywhere.”
“Why the past tense?”
“He got hit by a car yesterday, here in Virginia.”
“Accident or something else?”
“According to eyewitnesses, the car increased it’s speed, driver obviously didn’t try to avoid the hit or diminish the impact. The victim rolled over the hood and got slammed into the asphalt. He died before the paramedics got there.”

“Did you find the driver?”
“Not yet. He escaped from the scene.” Seymour took the print, shoved it back to his bag and pulled out a photocopy. “This card was found in the vics pocket.”

Chad took the paper. It was a photocopy of a calling card.
“That’s the main reason why we’re handling this. Maybe the guy was a witness, maybe a family member they came into contact with. We went thought his team’s case reports from the last few months, but there was no mentions of him.”
“Did you find anything else from him?”
“No. remember the rain yesterday? The body landed on a puddle and most of his things were totally soaked. He did have a backbag with him, but there was nothing in there except clothes.”
“So basically you’re in a dead-end.”
“Unless Aaron can tell us something, we’ll send this back to the PD. Anyway, I think I’ll ambush him tomorrow at the office. Katie get’s really cranky when I’m more than three hours late for dinner.”
“He’s not going to the office tomorrow, but I can tell him to call you.”
“Thanks. This whole case seems like a waste of time.” Seymour sighed. “There’s hit`n runs all the time, that’s PD`s job.” He got up and gathered his things.

“I’ll tell him to call you when he gets back.”
“Great, but tell him not to call tonight.”
“Katie?”
“You should have seen her when I got five calls from work during the same twenty minute meal…. It wasn’t pretty.”
“Tell her I said hi.”
“Wipe that smirk off your face. The reason she likes you is that you always compliment her cooking.”
“Easy way into her heart, feel free to copy.” Chad smirked.
“I’ll have to try that, I’m in for some serious crawling anyway. It was nice to see you.”
“You too.”

Seymour walked to the foyer and a minute later a faint sound of the door indicated his departure. Chad looked down at the photocopy in his hand, then got up from the couch. He went into Hotch`s study and opened the top drawer of the oak desk. He placed the photocopy on the desk and two neat stacks of calling cards next to it.

Chad’s eyes went back and forth between the copy and the two stacks. Finally he shoved the cards back into the drawer and slammed it shut.
