Numb3rs Main List “Absolutely no!” Megan exclaimed and banged her fist to the desk. “No
background checks, no tailing his car, and you`re not going to be in the
next table.”
“I just want to check the guy is what he says he is.” Don explained.
“You’ll stay far away from him or you’re the one who needs to worry about
his personal safety. I can take care of myself just fine, thank you.”
“Are you going to take your gun to the restaurant?”
“What do you think?”
“Good, better be safe than sorry.”
“I’m not taking a gun to a classy restaurant!” The volume of Megan’s voice
was now dangerously close to screaming.
He last statement had turned most of the heads in the bullpen, and their
audience was waiting for the encore.
“Nothing to see here!” Don yelled and people turned back to their errands
trying to look like they just happened to glance their way.
“What’s here that’s not for them to see?” Charlie walked closer. “I could
hear your voice all the way to the elevators.”
“Megan’s just being difficult.”
“I’m not!”
Charlie sighed. “Kiddies, just the short version, please.”
“I’ll tell you.” David got up from his desk. “Megan’s going out with that e-mail
guy and Don wants to check him from top to bottom, no pun indented, and
Megan was just about to knock his teeth’s down his throat.”
“That was a really well articulated rant.” Charlie commented.
“Well, the other version would be this: These two put on a show over little
things like there’s nothing else going on around.” David slammed a stack
of casefiles against his desk with a loud thump, and skulked to the break
room.
“What the hell was that?” Megan wondered.
“I’ll handle him. You two…” Charlie gave Don and Megan a frustrated glance.
“Just don’t kill each other while I’m gone.
Charlie walked to the break room, where David had slumped down to the couch.
Charlie closed the door and went to pour himself some coffee.
“Are you planning to tell me what that was about?”
“What are you talking about?”
“Come on, you’ve been tense for the last few days. You’re not having problems
with Edgerton, are you?”
David hesitated. “Not problems… He just asked me to do something.”
“Do what?”
“If I tell you, will you keep it to yourself?”
“Of course.”
“Remember when we talked about… positions?”
“Which time do you mean?”
“When you said that you and Colby are both versatile, but he prefers to….”
“Bottom.”
“Yeah… Me and Ian have been together for almost a year and during that time
I’ve always been the one who….”
“Plays the catcher position?”
“Yep. I mean I was happy with that! And then he blows that bombshell, just like
that. Out of the blue.”
“What bombshell?”
“He wants me to….”
“Insert the floppy disc?”
“I don’t like that metaphor, but yeah.”
“So what’s the problem?”
“It’s Ian.”
“I’m still waiting.”
“It’s Ian! Ian-scary-as-hell-do-what-I-tell-you-to-do-and-lick-my-boots-on-the-
way-Edgerton. I can’t even imagine him as… you know….”
“Playing a red flag for the bull?”
“How many expressions do you have for that?”
“I’m not sure. But what did Edgerton have to say? Don’t tell me he hasn’t done
it before.”
“He has, but according to him it’s been a while.” David groaned. “Think about
it. Not so long ago I had no idea I could actually like….”
“Entertaining gentleman callers on the back porch?”
“Exactly.”
“But you liked it when you decided to give it a chance. And if Edgerton doesn’t
usually let his bed buddies do that, you should be flattered.”
“I guess.”
“It’s a power flip. It’s about how much power you are willing to give to the other
person. If both are willing to play for the same goal, the situation is balanced.”
“I think you got a point…”
“I always have a point. You just enjoy it.”
“Thanks.”
“You’re welcome.” Charlie headed to the door but turned back. “Now that I
thought about it… Twenty-seven.”
“What?”
“I have twenty-seven expressions for the male mambo.” Charlie grinned and left.

Colby groaned and grabbed Charlie’s hips. The curly professor clutched Colby’s
shoulders with both hands while he rode him. Colby recognised familiar grunts
and tried to hold on till Charlie was ready. Finally they climaxed simultaneously.
Charlie collapse on top of his partner and both of them focused on getting their
breathing to even out and didn’t say anything for a minute. Then Charlie lifted
his head from the crook of Colby’s shoulder and gave him a soft kiss.
“What got you in that mood?” Colby wondered with a sated calmness. “Not
that I’m complaining.”
“David.”
“What?!”
“I had a talk with David.”
“Oh… I thought… nothing, go on.”
“We talked about balance. And sex.”
“And more specifically…?”
“Who’s the boss. And is the one topping the one who’s in charge.”
“Don’t know about them, but between you and me…” Colby kissed him and
smiled. “You’re the boss, and I like it that way.”
“Me too.”
“But before we start any deeper conversations….”
“What?”
“I like your office, but can we get up now? I got rug burn all over my back.”
