Criminal Minds Main List Morgan gave his pillow a few punches, and settled in. He dialled a familiar number
on his cell phone and waited till he heard the click in the other end.
“Hello?”
“Pretty Boy….”
“Hey, I was going to call you, but I wasn’t sure if you were still on a
case or not.”
“I was, we got back couple hours ago. Good thing we didn’t need to
finish our reports today, I was about to fall asleep in the office.”
“You want to go to sleep now? We can talk later-”
“No, I wanted to
hear you before I go to sleep. How was your lecture?”
“I’m not sure….”
“Tell me.”
“It started pretty well, but then I tried to insert a joke, and
it just went downhill from there.”
“What joke did you tell?”
“That same one I told you, about DSM-Codes and their connections to
Caraka Saṃhitā Sutra`s views on Ayurvedas and Doshas.”
”I warned you before you left! Nobody understands that joke.”
”Professor Greinstein got it!”
”That old perv is there?”
”He came to my lecture, and don’t call him that.”
”Old perv is a very kind name for that creep. Last time he was at
the office he tried to grope you every time he had a chance.”
”He’s an old man, he tried to grab me for support.”
”When somebody needs support, they don’t try to grab it from your ass.”
”He’s near-sighted.”
”He’s not.”
”Fine, he’s creepy. Happy now?”
“Yep. Apart from that, did they listen what you said?”
“I think they did, but you know…. I’m really not that good at speaking
to people my own age.”
“You’re not that bad.”
“I am. When I was a kid all the kids around me were older than me. When
I started working, everyone was still older than me, so I’ve never really
had a chance to practice interaction with my peers in a social context.”
“You’re not there to make friends, you’re there to teach them stuff. And
you’re good at that.”
“Thanks. What about you? How was the case?”
“Weird. We were interviewing this professor of biochemistry, and every
time he spoke about his studies, I expected to hear you explaining it
for us.”
“But you got your guy in the end.”
“But it’s not the same. Are you still flying back on Friday?”
“Yeah, it supposed to land at nine PM. Are you coming to pick me up?”
“In every sense of that phrase.” Morgan grinned.
Reid chuckled. “Don’t talk like that when I have to spend the night alone.”
“Hey, I have to be alone too. I hope you’ve learned your lesson: No more
travelling without me.”
“Blame Hotch, he didn’t want to do it, so he sent me.”
“At least you got to stay in a nice hotel.”
“I guess.”
“Did you try the room service?”
“Yeah, they brought me some sandwiches. I got back so late, I didn’t want
to go out again.”
“How was the waitress?”
“What do you mean?”
“Was she pretty?”
“I suppose…. In a very manly way.”
“Should I be worried? You’re there all alone, in a hotel room, missing me
like crazy, and then the waitress decides to make a move….”
“Morgan!”
“Just kidding.”
“I know but it wasn’t funny. I’ll have nightmares after that.”
“About the waitress?”
“About her and especially about her moustache.”
“She sounds yummy.”
“She’s scary.”
“Awwwww…. You want me to defend you?”
“No need for that.” Reid paused. “But I would like to have you here
with me.”
“I would like to be there too.”
“I’ll be back soon.”
“But now I have to sleep alone. I’m used to being poked awake with sharp
bones.”
“I have to endure some things too.”
“What?”
“Your dog. He waits till we’re both asleep and then he sneaks into
the bed.”
“He’s not that bad.”
“He drools all over me.”
“So do I, and you don’t complain about that.”
Reid chuckled. “No, I don’t. But seriously, your dog ruined the keyboard
of my laptop with that drooling.”
“When?”
“Last week. I was going to tell you but then we got the call to that case
in Newark and I forgot the whole thing.”
“Sorry, I’ll pay for it-”
“No need, Garcia took care of it. She has a friend who does stuff like
that, he got it going again. So it’s fine, no harm done.”
“Good. I’ll give him a long lesson about that. But on the bright side,
that’s the first time a dog likes you enough to drool on you.”
“Considering all that barking he did when he first met me, I’m pretty happy
with the way things are.”
“I’m not.”
“You’re not?”
“No.” Morgan suppressed a chuckle. “I want you back here.”
“Five more days.” Reid paused to yawn. “Are you still tired?”
“Yeah.. You wanna go to bed now?”
“I’m already in bed. I should try to get some sleep, I got an early morning.”
“Okay. Call me tomorrow, when you’re done with your lectures.”
“I will.” Reid didn’t say anything for a while. “I miss you.”
“I miss you too.”
“Good night.”
“Good night, Pretty Boy.”
