Criminal Minds Main List Prentiss scanned the bullpen and turned to J.J.
“Have you seen Morgan or Reid all day?”
“Now and then.”
“Are they on a separate assignment?”
“No. Morgan teaches his self defence class today.” J.J. said like it explained
everything.
“Are you planning to tell me what that has to do with them not being here? Those
classes are in the afternoon. Don’t tell me he uses Reid as a practice tool….”
“Something like that.” J.J. giggled. “It’s the same thing every time. Morgan has
tried to get Reid to attend his classes for years.”
“Isn’t it mandatory to go to the basic training?”
“It is, and Reid did that before he even joined BAU. But he hasn’t had many
opportunities to put them to use. When Morgan has his classes he tries to
persuade Reid and Reid tries to avoid him. It’s a tradition.”
“Why can’t he just go there once? It can’t be that hard.”
“Have you seen the guys in Morgan’s classes? They’re huge. No wonder Reid
doesn’t want to go there.”
“So they keep avoiding each other for the entire day?”
“Yep. And we keep giving Morgan false clues.”
“Is that a tradition too?”
“Yeah, and Morgan knows it, so just play along.”
“Hello, ladies.” Morgan greeted and walked over to them. “Have you seen Reid?”
“I think I saw him a little while ago…” J.J. started.
“I think so too.” Prentiss agreed. “Didn’t he go that way?”
“No, that way.” J.J. giggled and pointed to the opposite direction.
“You’ve been housetraining her, haven’t you?” Morgan chuckled.
“I’m just telling her the basics.”
“I can see that.”
J.J. heard faint footsteps coming closer, and turner to look at Reid who
was carefully approaching her.
“Hey J.J., have you seen-” Reid spotted Morgan next to them and looked like
he was ready to escape again.
“Freeze!” Morgan leaped closer, grabbed him by the neck and pulled him back.
“You’re not gonna escape this time.”
“Morgan, I don’t want to go!”
“I know, but you need to go. You can’t let your self defence training get rusty.
That’s how they fail.”
“He has a point.” Prentiss said. “You never know when you need to defend
yourself, especially in the field.”
“Thank you!” Morgan exclaimed.
“You never know what can happen if I go practising with your group. I can get
hurt just practising with them.”
“Fine, if you’re worry about that, I can be your practice partner, okay?”
“I don’t know….”
“Come on, you’ve had your basic training and you’ve read that guide book
I gave you.”
“I didn`t read it! That book was pure pornography.” Reid was turning bright
red. “I still can’t believe you would give that to me-”
“Reid.” Morgan interrupted. “Not that guide book.”
Reid stared at him. “You meant… Oh…”
“That’s right.” Morgan chuckled. “And you two….” He turned to J.J. and Prentiss
who had been watching their conversation like a piece of interpretive art. “Mind
your own business.”
“Are you kidding? This is much more interesting than my business.” J.J. commented.
“Anyway, we’re going. Do I need to take you there in cuffs?”
“If I go with you, will you forget the whole topic after that?” Reid sighed.
“For a while.”
“Fine, let’s go, but remember you’re my practice partner. If you try to pair me up
with one of those Neanderthals, I’ll walk out.”

An hour later Morgan and Reid returned to the office. J.J. and Garcia were chatting
lively, but their talk died down when they saw the pair approaching. Reid was
supporting Morgan, who made pathetic whimpers every ten secons.
“What the hell happened to my chokogremlin?” Garcia asked with her eyes wide.
“It was an accident.” Reid helped Morgan to a chair. “We just came to get his stuff.
I’m taking him home.”
“What kind of an accident? Wait a minute…. Don’t tell me you tried that thing on
page hundred and seven…. I told you it was too demanding for someone your
age!”
“You got that guide from her?” Reid looked stunned.
“Can we talk about this later? I hurt my back when we were practising. I was
pretending to be the attacker.”
“It was an accident.” Reid intersected.
“You flipped me to my back. Against the bleachers!”
“You told me to do it!”
“I didn’t think you would actually listen to me.” Morgan let out a deep groan. “And
I’m not that old.” His last comment was directed to Garcia, who was trying to cover
her giggles.
“Sugarsyrup, you know I love you, but there’s some things people over thirty
shouldn’t even try. Especially when they’re dealing with a younger guy. Why do
you think I got rid of that swing set I had in my bedroom?”
“Normally I would love to hear about it, but I’m in too much pain for that.”
“Well, at least you got a doctor at home.”
“The same doc who put me in this state.”
“You asked for it!” Garcia reminded.
“That didn’t mean he had to do it!” Morgan tried to get up, but didn’t succeed.
“Give me a hand.”
Reid pulled him up. “When are you going to reschedule your class?”
“No idea. After today my credibility is history.”
