Criminal Minds Main List The phone rang just once before Garcia snatched it on.
“The uncrowned Queen of all things Worth Knowing, how can I flip your fortune?”
“It’s me.”
“My sprinkle covered chokopretzel, are you still in New York?”
“Yeah, but we got our guy.”
“So what do you need from me?”
“I always need something from you, but not right now. I wanted to let you
know what’s going on.”
“You just said you caught the guy.”
“We did. We’re gonna stay here for one more day. Hotch is delaying the paperwork
so that we don’t need to leave until tomorrow.”
“Why do you want to stay there?”
“Pretty Boy had a little accident. We’re at the hospital right now.”
“How bad is it?”
“Could have been a lot worse. Our unsub tried to escape, and Reid ended up close
and personal with the guy’s car. Couple cracked ribs, left hand in a cast and a lot
of bruises. At least there wasn’t any head injuries.”
“When is he getting home?”
“They said he`ll get out tomorrow. That’s why Hotch delayed our takeoff. It’s hell
of a lot easier to travel in the jet, than fly commercially.”
“That’s true. Is he gonna be off duty for long?”
“What do you think?”
“As long as you can keep him still?”
“Yep.” Morgan confirmed. “Anyway, I better make this quick, I’m freezing.”
“How can it be freezing in the hospital?”
“They didn’t let me use my cell phone inside, apparently it does funny things to
life support systems. I’m at the parking lot. I wanted to ask you a little favour.”
“Sure, honey.”
“Can you go to my place? You remember where the spare key is, right?”
“Yeah.”
“You know that bowl where I keep keys and coins and that kinda stuff? There’s
a key with a leather chain.”
“And?”
“Can you go to Reid’s place, pack up some stuff and take them to my place?
Clothes and that kinda things.”
“Consider it done. So, he’s staying at your place?”
“He’s been staying at my place anyway, but I want to keep an eye on him.
Hotch got me a few days off.”
“Lucky you.”
“Don’t know about that…. He’s taking them from my vacation days.”
“Come on, my grouchy little Hotchipootchie`s not that bad.”
“Since when do you have a nickname for him?”
“I got those for all of you. But some of them are for my night-time use only.”
“Let’s get back to that topic later.
--------------------------------------------------
“There’s no need to stay overnight, we can leave right now.” Reid insisted and
tried to get up from his hospital bed. “Can you get my own clothes-” His sentence
turned into a yelp, when his legs failed him.
“I told you.” Morgan helped him back to bed. “They gave you your pain meds as
an injection, while you were out. They should be kicking in right about now.”
“What meds?” Reid questioned.
“I don’t know.”
“Show me.” Reid made a gesture to the direction of his patient chart at the end
of the bed. Morgan handed it to him.
“Morgan….”
“Yeah?”
“How long has it been since they gave me the meds?”
“Maybe half an hour.”
“That explains it….”
“Explains what?”
“Why the letters keep jumping up and down…”
“You should go to sleep.” Morgan chuckled. “You can try that again tomorrow.”
“Read it to me…”
“Let’s see…” Morgan took the chart and scanned the text, then he shook his head.
“I can’t even pronounce half of these.”
“What type are they? Opioids? Piperidines? Analgesics?”
”How should I know?”
”Opinoid is an analgesic, that binds with opioid receptors-”
”Pretty Boy, this is really not the time to start a lecture.”
“I want to know and I don’t have a teddy bear to cuddle up with….” Reid paused.
“Whatever they gave me, it was pretty strong…..”
“I can hear that.” Morgan grinned. “You want me to check the gift store? I think
they had some teddy bears.”
“That was the medication talking.” Reid protested. His speech had become more
and more slurred.
“Of course…. What about me?”
“You want a teddy bear too?”
“No, but I could try to double for one. I’ve been told I’m very squishable.”
“Squishable is not a word. And who told you that?”
“You did.”
“Oh right…. You can’t talk about stuff I can’t remember right now…. Not fair…”
Reid’s eyelids were drooping and he looked ready to go back to sleep.
“Good night, Pretty Boy.”
“No….”
“You want something?”
“Teddy bear…” Reid tried to reach out for him but started snoring in the middle of
the movement. His hand slumped over the edge of the bed.
Morgan kicked off his shoes and climbed in, trying to avoid Reid’s ribs. As soon
as he was laid down, Reid leaned against him and nuzzled his cheek against his
shoulder.
