“Don, you got a minute?” Charlie walked to the bullpen looking unusually anxious.
“If you make it brief.” Don guided him to the break room and closed the door.

“It’s pretty brief, no matter how you say it. You remember when I had to go to I-
couldn’t-tell-you where, to do that couldn’t-tell-you-what project for can’t-tell-you-
which government agency?”
“How could I forget?”
“Anyway, there’s been some problems.”
“Again?”
“Again, and it’s not about my contribution. I’m starting to suspect they tried to
save money and hired absolute idiots to handle it.”
“So you’re going there again? Wherever `there` is….”
“Yeah. I’m on my way to the house to pack some stuff, but I wanted to ask you
a favour.”
“Okay.”

“Can you keep an eye on Colby?”
“Why?”
“Last time I was gone he got little weird.”
“How weird?”
“When I came back he had ironed my socks and starched my boxers.”
“So what do you want me to do?”
“Maybe you and Martin could take him out for a guy’s night, something like that.”
“You want us to get him drunk?”
“If you want to. But I gotta warn you…. If you get him drunk, don’t do that in
a strip club.”

“And you’re telling me this because….?”
“We made that mistake once. Trust me, you don’t want to see that.”
“I’ll try to remember that. How long are you going to be away?”
“Probably few days, maybe a week.”
“Have fun.”
“Stuck in the middle of rough soldiers…. Hmmmm….”
“Chuck.”
“Sorry, my mind started wandering. I need to go now, my ride’s waiting. I’ll call
you when I can.” Charlie bounced out of the break room.

“What was that about?” David peaked in. “He almost knocked me down on his
way out.”
“He was in a hurry.”
“Are you going to specified that?”
“He`s going on a consultation trip.”
“Where`s he going?”
“I don’t know.”
“Who`s he working for?”
“I don’t know.”
“What is he doing for them?”
“I don’t know.”
“Do you know anything?”

“Depends on the topic. Are you and Edgerton free tomorrow after work?”
“Probably. Why?”
“Chuck wanted me to keep an eye on Granger while he’s away. He said we
should have a guy’s night.”
“Sounds good. But don’t let Granger get drunk. Especially if we’re going to
a strip club.”
“That’s exactly what Charlie said. What’s the deal with Granger and strip
clubs?”
“I don’t know what you’re talking about.”
“You do know. Let’s hear it.”

“Fine, I’ll tell you, but you can’t tell him I told you.”
“What’s the point if he knows the whole thing already?”
“He doesn’t.” David chuckled. “He didn’t remember any of it the next morning.”
“What happened?”
“Peterson’s bachelor party. We all went to this strip club, and got drunk. Well…
most of didn’t get that drunk…. Colby got sentimental.”
“What do you mean `sentimental`?”

“We talked about Peterson’s fiancé, and getting married and that stuff, and he
decided he had to make it clear just how much in love he was.”
“And?”
“And he started with a very slurred speech, then started serenading him, and
then…”

“Then?”
“He got on a table to give Charlie a private show.”
“What kinda show?”
“We were in a strip club, what do you think?”
“Okay, I got it now.”
“He was in his underwear by the time they kicked us out. When we got to the
car he tried to give Charlie a lap dance and passed out on top of him.”
“Quite a night.”

“You can say that again… He almost suffocated.”
“Granger?”
“Charlie. He had to drag Colby off of him, so he could breathe.”
“And the reason why I never heard about this was….?”
“Would you believe me if I said it just slipped my mind?”
“No.”

“Okay. Charlie asked me not to say anything. Colby had a hard time working
with people after that.”
“What do you mean?”
“What do you think I mean?” David laughed. “He showed off pretty much everything
he has in front of co-workers. Can you imagine how hard it was to keep a straight
face after that when we had to talk about work? He kept asking if he has something
on his face.”

“I remember that…. Anyway, we’ll keep him away from strip clubs, I got enough
flashbacks haunting me.” Don groaned.
“So where are we going?”
“Where do you go with Edgerton?”
“To the gun range.”
“To spend the evening?”
“Not every time. Just sometimes. The whole gun range gets him in the mood.”

“Why do I have a feeling there’s bunch of stuff happening behind my back all
the time….?”

David grinned. “Because it’s true.”
