“Pleaaaaaase….” Morgan groans.
“Why do you ask me now, when you’ve already set it up?”
“I didn’t remember!”
“And why do you always want me to stay away when they are here?”
“Because….” Morgan rewinded through the list of all possible explanations
and snapped his mouth shut. “I just assumed you don’t want to be here.”

Reid took the remote and snapped the TV off.
“I know me and you buddies aren’t exactly similar in any sense, but I would
like to be included in these plans. You can’t just make plans with them and
shove me aside.”  He paused. “This is my home too, isn’t it?”
“Of course it is, I didn’t mean it like that.”
“Well, that’s what it sounded like.”
“I just didn’t think you would want to hang out with them. They’re…. well,
not exactly your kinda people.”
“And what is `my kinda people`? What kind of people are `their kinda
people`?”
“Not so…. brainy?” Morgan suggested carefully.

“Are implying that I can’t effectively integrate with people of lower intellect
than mine?”
“I mean you and the guys have nothing to talk about. It would just be boring
for you.”
“Or maybe you just don’t want to introduce me to your friends. I know you’ve
told them you are living with a male, so it can’t be about that. Only one
option remains: It must be about me.”

“Babe-”
“You think I would embarrass you?”
“No!”
“Than why can’t I come to your poker night?”
“Fine! If it’s that big of a deal, you can stay for the poker night.”
“I get to stay at home. What a relief….”
“Pretty Boy, sarcasm doesn’t suit you.”

-----------------------------------------------

Reid came back from the store ten minutes after the guests had arrived. Morgan
pulled him down to sit on the empty spot in the table.

“Guys, this is Reid. Reid, from left to right: Mike, Jimmy, Spazz, Pete and Ty.”
“Nice to meet you. What exactly are we playing?”

Mike, who was shuffling a deck of cards gave him a weird look. “Poker?”
“I know, but what kind? Seven-card Stud, five-card draw, three-card brag,
Texas hold` em, Omaha, Red Dog-”
“Reid, just normal straight poker.” Morgan interrupted.
“Okay.” He agreed. “What are the stakes?”

Mike explained the stakes and Morgan leaned closer to Reid so he could whisper.
“You don’t need to play for money if you don’t want to, we can-”
“No, no, let’s just play like you usually play. I’ll get the hang of it.”

“Ready?” Mike started to shuffle the deck again.
“Yep. Did you know that poker was originally invented during the American
revolutionary war-”

“Reid, the guys will be here all evening. Save some fun for later.” Morgan
grinned.

-----------------------------------------------

When Morgan went to the kitchen two hours later to get more beer, Mike
followed him.

“Did you plan this?”
“Plan what?”
“That kid.”
“He wanted to come.” Morgan shrugged.
“He’s killing us. He sits there looking all innocent and wins every time.
You two planned this.”
“We didn’t plan anything!”
“Is he a pro? You brought a pro to skin us?”
“He’s a three time doctor! He’s not a poker player!”
“Could have fooled me! Then how the hell does he always win?”
“He’s a genius, who’s trained to read people.”
“And you couldn’t warn your own buddies!”

“Morgan?” Reid came to the kitchen waving a thick wad of money. “I’ll take
Clooney out for a little walk, he’s scratching the door again.”
“You don’t wanna play anymore?”
“All the guys said they ran out of money.” Reid shrugged. “Mike, it was really
nice to meet you. We have to do this again soon, I had a lot of fun.”
Reid took Clooney’s leash and headed out.

Mike  stared at the door Reid had closed behind him. “Is he for real?”
“Yep. Scary isn’t it?” Morgan grinned.

-----------------------------------------------

Morgan was already in bed when Reid and Clooney returned. He put his book
down and leaned back to watch Reid changing to his pyjamas.

“Why are you looking at me?” Reid asked and started buttoning the top half.
“Nice scenery?” Morgan grinned. “By the way, I was gonna suggest some one
on one poker.”
“Sure.” Reid chuckled. “But I really don’t want to take your money. I got
over six hundred bucks from your buddies.”

Morgan took a closer look at Reid’s crooked grin. “You fooled us, didn’t you?”

Reid put on his innocent face. “Well…. You can’t grow up in Vegas without
picking up some stuff…” He crawled into the bed next to Morgan and gave him
a little kiss. “You know... there’s one thing I’ve never tried.”

“What?”
“I’ve never played strip poker.”
“You just wanna see me naked.” Morgan laughed. “Pretty Boy… I’ve told you
before: You just need to ask….”

“Where’s the fun in that?” Reid pulled out a deck of cards from the nightstand
drawer.
“One more question…” Morgan said and started pulling off his t-shirt.
“Ask me.”
“I know you can do tricks with coins, but do you do any card tricks?”
“No comment.” Reid blushed and shuffled the deck. “Just keep stripping, because
you’re not going to win.”
