And on the endless round of politically manipulative imbeciles who keep proclaiming that the United States is a Republic, not a Democracy... that old saw has about as much meaning as a donkey's braying

And, as I have learned repeatedly over the last several months-- it is a so-called "representative democracy", in which "we the people" do have the power to change the way things are (if we could ever get off our collective asses, organize, and vote representatives into all the political offices who will truly serve the best interests of "we the people")-- but in practice, it is a thoroughly manipulated, corrupt, inefficient system that serves only the interests of the rich and powerful while doing just enough for the rest to keep us all pacified, while feeding the propaganda machines that keep us blinded and deluded-- and it stays that way, as it has from the beginning-- because "we the people", having been thoroughly divided and conquered by our self-proclaimed masters, continue to let it happen, just as we have ever since 1789.
