I've volunteered to go, and they won't take me.

I think a draft is a horribly bad idea. I see no chance such a draft would be administered competently or fairly.

I think that Heinlein was on to something in "For Us, The Living" when he proposed a popular vote requirement to start a foreign war ... with the proviso that a "YES" vote came with a draft notice attached.

I think Heinlein was right in 'Starship Troopers' (the book, not the movie)--
No citizenship without doing national service first.
