E. Gary Gygax is dead.  It’s funny.  I’m sufficiently suspicious of internet rumors that I didn’t believe it when I first read it, and refreshed a search of AP news every fifteen minutes until I had real confirmation.

Apparently it’s true.  AP didn’t say whether they had attempted to resurrect him yet, or whether that had been tried and he failed

Gaming has been and continues to be a major part of my life as well. The best comment I have heard about this so far is (and I wish I could take credit for it):

To Gygax: It was a (rolls dice) pleasure living in your world, Gary.

So Ruth, always trying to prove that I'm geekier than she, comes home last night and says "that guy who created D&D died today."

To which I responded, "What, Gary Gygax?"

And she just pointed at me and giggled.

Unfortunate geek points aside, I raise an elegant, dragon-encircled (and ensorceled) pewter mug in his honor.
