Absolutely. John is only average because Sherlock shines like the fucking sun. You'd have to be pretty amazing in your own right to even keep up with the man. And Sherlock does not suffer idiots. Lestrade has his begrudging respect and while Mycroft makes his skin crawl Sherlock makes no qualms about giving him the credit he's due (most dangerous man you'll ever meet), but John. JOHN! *throws self upon their theoretical selves*
