Just this evening I noticed the same thing about my cups of tea. It's irritating because I got new boxes of tea yesterday, two kinds I especially like, and if anything I'm drinking less than I did of normal tea! I don't even know if it's absent-mindedness in my case or just procrastination. I should learn that tea comes with its own countdown timer; I hate it when it's even lukewarm.
A good cup of tea is something you really must sit down and appreciate... Even worse times than leaving some tea is to realise that you've finished it all off without realising!
Yes, you're very right. One of the most important things about a cup of tea is the little bubble of time and calm it creates. That's why this is such a worrying development.
