...Wow, it's been almost a year since I posted anything. I guess things have been, well, rather busy. That amount of lj silence sort of becomes self-perpetuating -- it's hard to know what to say to bring things up to date. So I won't try! I think most of you already know more or less what I've been up to -- if anyone actually wants a life

Mostly agreed with what Alisa said. Most things up Chapel past Dwight or Howe are not so nice, anything up Whalley is not so nice until you get quite a ways away, Prospect is okay except if you're near "Science Park" (not science hill), the rest is mostly okay but worth checking out in person to see for yourself. I would also say be careful with Mansfield - it's okay lower down by the whale, much less so farther up. Depending on whether your classmate will have a bike, East Rock is pretty decent, and a car opens up all sorts of other locations

Thank you!! It's great to be able to pass along advice -- if any of your grad friends have added thoughts, that would be wonderful -- I talked to my classmate again, and it sounds like he's not actually looking so much for a sublet if it's just for the summer, since that would mean moving twice (are the friends you mentioned looking for something longer-term?).
We definitely haven't spoken in a while -- email update to follow in short order. :)
