It is very scary. And having people around particularly for the Dandenongs could be vital this weekend. Keep safe JJ.

My thoughts are with all those fighting the fires, their families waiting for their safe return, and those who chose to go or stay to defend their homes and properties.

I'm praying for a less strong wind than predicted, and a miracle rainstorm.

The first part of your prayers were answered - thanks!!!

Can you now extend that to cover tomorrow as well? I'm about to post an update as to what is happening and it looks like we might need it!

Yes, the worst part of tomorrow is the knowledge that as the change comes through the wind will gust and change direction. That's the time, as we both know, that the greatest danger to life occurs.

I'll keep praying JJ, and hope my weather god understands.

Good luck with all your fire fighting, and keep safe. I too feel awful for all the families there. I read it in the papers, but didn't realise how bad it was until I saw the red moon last night, and then saw all the haze outside this morning from FOUR HOURS AWAY!

Good luck JJ, we're thinking of you so much at the moment. The smoke haze outside is frightening - frightening for the amount of fire it implies.

Come home safely, sweetie - and see you soon.

Actually smoke over here from these fires is GOOD - it indicates we DON'T have the nasty hot, strong northerly winds we were expecting. Unfortunaely they've just been delayed to tomorrow or Monday.

I'll post an update on the fires for everyone.

Thanks for your thoughts - been out once and about to go ack to the fire station soon *hugs*
