Eh, it'll take more than a vagina to make her a good PM.

That said, I did enjoy her speech. It was eloquent and I think not moving into the Lodge is a good move in terms of how the public will percieve her own thoughts about how she came into the position (if that makes sense).

Rudd's speech was SUPER painful to watch, especially his family's faces during all the long pauses and trembling.

i completely missed his and her speeches and everything. xD mostly, i'm just amused that it happened like overnight basically, because mum only told me yesterday there was going to be a challenge. |D *doesn't follow politics at all* but the lodge thing was a nice touch. 8D

Honestly speaking, I don't like her much. I know it's a step in the right direction with her being female and what not, but in reality when it comes down to election time, it's NO ONE LIKES HIM vs SO NEW THE PLASTIC'S STILL THERE.

You know, Labour just might lose the next poll~ Or by some random freak accident, the Greens will come into power |D;

Rudd had his faults, but meh. =\

Round and round we go \o/

I vote for the Greens everytime, because I know they will never go into power, but as long as Abbot doesn't go into power. Then I'm all happy happy.

Sad thing, I don't know much of her besides the fact she had a strong accent the Yanks couldn't understand her.

For some reason, bucky, I have the image of you going =o the whole time while I read this post. :3 :3

I haven't watched the press releases or what not, I only read it via the nets and read the Age. But still, what a blow for Rudd and only his first term, as opposed to Howard who was a douchebag. :/

I really felt quite sorry over Rudd's fall. I mean, it was quite an upset and I really thought that it'd take more for him to lose his place as PM? (But then again I don't follow politics so it's just my casual observation.) I'm with Kath on having to watch his goodbye speech, what with his terrible sad pauses and not being able to speak. ;;

yeaaah, they played his speech again on the news and OMG DEPRESSING. xD;; the uh, poll people were pointing out that nobody with rudd's stats in the leadup had ever lost an election and stuff like that, saying labor just panicked/got angry... but who knows really. xD xD *doesn't really follow either* ah well, whatever. 8D it's done, so~

I like Julia Gillard! She made her whole speech without once mentioning 'working families', hooray! I'm not too sure about her education portfolio, but she's always been so sensible and patient and I don't really know why people are calling her a backstabber when it was the rest of the party that practically demanded it. She has more or less walked a political tightrope here, the next few weeks should be interesting! Ahahah, the whole 24-hour leadership spill thing was still kinda crazy, it's funny to see the media going so spastic though. WHATEVER, I DON'T CARE WHO SO LONG AS IT'S NOT TONY ABBOTT. Or Stephen Conroy.

Although, this highly amusing cartoon from a few years ago did turn out oddly prophetic: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xn9fgcSuvmA

oh god, GUINEA PIG KJWJJKWE. xD xD SO ACCURATE CUTE. agreed though, she does have that sensible/patient air about her. :'D a lot more than abbott at any rate. i can't stand watching him. xD;; it's like... twitchy, somehow. but yeah, more than anything it'll be interesting to see how she goes. 8DD
