Oh, I can't wait to read this. I'm saving it for the weekend, though, because a) I'll have more time, and b) I want to finish my snapecase draft before I read this, lest I be influenced by what I know is going to be a killer interpretation of Snape.

Aw, thanks so much for the kind words. They are especially welcome in light of the fact that I just spent two hours adjusting the HMTL code on 45,000 words of fic in order to accommodate this goddamn banner behind an LJ cut. No, I don't understand why that should've been necessary either. And I can't fucking BELIEVE I have to be at work again in a few hours.

Between work, school and this fic, the last few days have been rather extraordinarily stressful, and my main distraction from all the bullshit has been...the Evita soundtrack. So thanks for that too!

The word count is "only" about 45K right now, if you want to know.

A fic this long is probably going to take me months to get around to, just so's you know. Don't think I'm purposely ignoring it or anything.

Oh yeah, the length of this fic is completely ridiculous at this point. I'm not even mentioning the full word count anymore for fear of scaring people away.

The danger of making "Hey, woo, look at my fic!" announcements like this is that people will feel pressure both to read the thing and to say something nice about it, which would be a drag for both you and me. So read it if and when you feel the urge - the point is for it to be, like, fun and stuff. Who knows, maybe by the time you get around to reading it, I'll actually be finished writing it. >:/

I just read the beginning of your fic and I can't wait for the next part. It's one of the best fanfics I think I've ever read. I love that it focuses on Snape.

I'm delighted to hear you enjoyed it! Thank you so much. I'm also delighted to hear that you managed to wade through the thing despite its rather punishing length. For the better part of a week no one commented on it at all, apart from pointing out some formatting issues, and I was starting to think it was just too long/too Snapecentric/too whatever to find an audience. It's very encouraging to know that at least one person managed to stick with it in spite of all that!

The next part should be up within a few days - I wanted to give people some breathing room before I piled yet MORE reading matter on them. In the meantime, I truly appreciate your taking the time to read the story and leave such encouraging feedback! I hope chapter 5 will meet your expectations. ;)

Chapter 5 was definitely up to my expectations. I just read it now and I liked it, especially the part where Voldemort changed everything. It may well have been simply manipulative but I think it showed that even Lord Voldemort was human and could do nice things.

I can't wait for the next chapter. :)

*claps hands* Yay! So glad you liked it. :)

I can't resist the idea that Voldemort has a secret nice streak. And, Bellatrix Lestrange's delusions of grandeur aside, I suspect Snape would've been the one to see it if anyone did.

I've already learned to stop making predictions about when ANY part of this fic will be finished, but if I have my way, Chapter 6 will be up within the week. Thanks so much for the continuing kind feedback!

seriously, this is an amazing work. you've entered snape's head so completely, his character is perfectly developed and yet still compliant with JKR. i know this is a big undertaking but if/when you finish this work i will literally be crying with happiness.
