Redundant, ill-timed Deathly Hallows musings

Not that I have time to be writing this or anything, but by next weekend when I can see this movie again my thoughts won’t be fresh. For a few minutes at least, DH should get to take precedence over my fucking Spanish oral report and the additional tarea for tomorrow which mi querida profesora hasn’t bothered to email to me after five days. "as if Yates was pointing out that all normalcy by now was precious"

Oh, that is *gorgeously* observed. All I thought was that he made the Trio look so small in the vastness, but yes. This.

Excellent point about Snape being filmed heroically -- true. Loved the cloak trailing up the stairs. It was a nicely atmospheric beginning.

The camping landscapes were well-done, too -- an entire wizard-world topography that seems to exist independent of Muggles. Such desolate grandeur, such emphasis on how all has changed.

As strong a job as I thought the Trio did, I did miss the Usual Suspects -- the royal acting family. They always add such depth, even when they're being mannered. The film just felt flatter without them.

And Kingsley -- yeah, he looks too much like a lugubrious bassett hound or something; I wanted someone sleeker, smoother, more personally lynx-like. an FDR with a silvery lynx in tow hahaha -- exactly.

I agree about Godric's Hollow. It was one of my favourite moments in the book. I'm a huge Lily-follower and I needed that circle-around moment of Harry at the place he would have grown up in.

Side note: Did he bust through the wall to his old nursery when fighting "Bathilda?" Creeeeepy.
