A rare public announcement -- is it time to RP yet?

Dec 26, 2025 16:04

Welcome to what's possibly the only public entry I'll ever make!

Some preliminary stuff...

So, I've been thinking, and I'd really like to get involved in an LJ-rooted RP or two.  A lot of communities already have an Azula, so I'm at a bit of a loss in finding one.  Same goes for one-on-one RPing: not sure where to go ( Read more... )

I don't rp, but I'm pretty sure theskytides doesn't have an Azula (and someone was asking for Avatar characters).

To my understanding, the multifandom rp is basically about sky pirates (but there's a sky navy too, I think). But, again, there's more info in the link.

...BTW, what rp comm.'s do you know have Azula?

Thanks for posting!  I'll give that comm. a look.

I know these have an active Azula:
econtra_rpg
digital_dive
paradisa
compound_rp
milliways_bar
transmigration9
indesolution
dramadramaduck

Just dropping by to say hi, and to thank you for the add so I can read your flocked Azula-centric entries. :P I agree with most of your opinions about her, and it's always nice to see a fellow Azula obsessor fan (... oh, what the hell, obsessor) who doesn't feel the need to dance around her sociopathy in order to make her fit their fic/pairing/idea of how she should end up when the series finishes (though my brain is still frantically searching for a plausible end that would involve neither death nor redemption).

Thank you!  When I saw that you were a fan of Azula, in addition to having "sociopaths" as an interest and belonging to psychopaths, I knew you actually understood her portrayal, so I had to add you back.  :D  It's tiresome arguing with people who refuse to believe she's a sociopath; that she can be convincingly redeemed by season's end, etc. ... and to come across a fellow obsessor -- because that's what we are! -- that embraces her character for what it is... it's refreshing!

As for a good ending for her... I'm not sure there can be one.  Realistically, as a sociopath, she's fated to die, as she'll just escape from prison if sent there.  To be redeemed is to want it -- so that's out.  I'm puzzled by it, too.  If this wasn't a Nick show, I'd suggest she be allowed to WIN and take over the world, but... nah.  Bad guys aren't allowed to win, no matter how worthy they are.  :\

Exactly. Even though I do believe that it's possible for a sociopath to improve their behavior (even though a cure it impossible), I just can't see that realistically happening to Azula at all, especially not by the end of this series. I think the best ending for her would be an open one- from the trailer, it's pretty obvious that she's going to have some sort of breakdown (and I'm totally looking forward to that), and my hope is that she'll come out of it without a sudden "realization of how much wrong she's done"- because I think that, to some extent, she does realize that what she's doing is wrong, and she just doesn't care. All the bad things she's done have been for the good of herself/the Fire Nation- in her mind, that's more than justification. I'd like it if they kept her alive, and restrained... but still a credible threat should she escape. I'm not sure how realistic that hope is, but...

Sorry for the ranting and rambling up there, heh.

I agree with your assertion that a sociopath can improve their behavior... never cured, but curtailed.  Azula takes pride in who she is: an unapologetic, self-proclaimed monster.  She can't experience a "sudden realization of how much wrong she's done", because she already knows -- and revels in it.  If they go that route, they will have truly butchered her character and watered her down for the benefit of the younger viewers.

I guess an open ending would be the best thing for her, short of death... I just wonder how they would deal with that in a convincing way.  Simply locking her in prison and throwing away the key is... well... too simple -- and the fact that they would leave her alive by doing so could act as a rallying-call for the disgruntled citizenry.  Not everyone in the Fire Nation will welcome a post-war world; the military, in particular.  Leaving Azula alive would unquestioningly lead to disaster down the road.  I don't know enough about the future of the Avatar world and its characters, but if they chose to keep her ( ... )

Hello! I've seen you around some femslash communities and on the Azula community. I'm requesting, if you'd like, to be added to this journal so I could see some entries. I'm a Katara roleplayer and while I do tend to enjoy lurking and discussing Avatar pairings of all sorts, I am a huge femslash fan, particularly Azula femslash (It's so hard to see her any other way for me! I Have no idea why.). I was huge on Azula/Ty Lee and Azula/Mai , but ever since the finale the Katara/Azula bug has bitten me and it's only gotten worse and worse.

I'd like to try roleplaying with you, perhaps, sometime in the future. If you would be okay with that. For now, though, I'd like to see your entries and all of that. If that's okay ♥ Princess ;)

Hello!  Wow -- I'm amazed you found me through a community!  I can't remember the last time I posted in one... it was a while ago.  It's always great to come across someone who enjoys femslash, particularly when it's centered on Azula.  ( Though I often find myself being able to see different points-of-view when it comes to 'shipping, and how someone could arrive at a certain conclusion, I simply can't see Azula being anything but gay.  It's one thing I refuse to compromise or bend on, and I RP her accordingly. )  I've been an Azula/Katara fan for almost two years, and I was looking forward to a confrontation between them for the longest time.  It didn't go at all how I had thought it would!  Azula was the one to act on impulse, and Katara employed the clever strategy to seal her victory.  It was an interesting twist, that's for sure!  I like Azula/Ty Lee and Azula/Mai as well -- honestly, I like her with any girl!

I'm very interested in role-playing with you.  I'd love to work something out and hear any ideas you might have!  I'll ( ... )

It was. I believe it was around the time of the finale? A bit before it. I think I've seen you on fire prodigy before, too? I just recall that whenever I'd type in an Azula slash interest in the search box, your username always had them, and I was happy to see someone else loved so many Azula pairings at once, too!

And UrsaAzula. The only cest ship I like in the series. God help meAnd yeah, I agree completely. I can look at things from an objective point of view, and see the appeal in many ships that I don't personally ship, and hell-- even see how they could work out. But Azula's interaction with females as opposed to her interaction with males in the series, her Mother issues, and just the ... air she gives off somehow just makes me think she'd have a much better affinity with women and desire them a lot more ( ... )

It must have been in fire_prodigy!  I remember posting there.

Believe me, it's a thrill for me, too!  I just love when people multiship her with girls.  Azula is too expansive of a character to be secluded to just one pairing.  Her interactions with each girl vary so much, though her sadism and misplaced sense of affection -- a derivative of power, rather than actual love -- remain constant.

It isn't every day that I find someone who likes Azula/Ursa!  It's my only 'cestship, too.  After the finalé, it's been made clear that Azula covets Ursa's love -- it's all-too-easy to imagine her desire varying from a normal mother-daughter bond, particularly when one considers the pain that failed relation caused her.

The air she gives off.  Yes.  Along with everything else you mentioned, there's something about her that makes you think she could only desire females.  It strikes me as sort of an intuition.  You just... know she's gay.

The possibilities truly are endless.  You could spend an afternoon jotting down ideas and still have only ( ... )

Ahh, I also see that your actual RP journal is another one. In that case, if this journal is dedicated to discussing Azula and just other things in general, I'd still like to see :)

Yeah, I've done my actual LJ-RPing on next_fire_lord.  I wouldn't be adverse to using this one, if the opportunity arose.  In any case, I would be happy to add you, so you can see.  :)

...Now that I'm thinking about it, I don't remember how I found this journal.

But I guess it really doesn't matter. I was looking through this and the survey on your RP journal, and I absolutely love your take on Azula. She is a sociopath, and even after the finale she's not going to become magically all rainbows and ponies. She's got real issues and she's not about to admit that any time soon. I think there are definitely many ways she could go, but she will never be "healthy" in the usual sense of the word no matter what.

Anyway, I'd absolutely love to RP with you sometime. I'm horrible at male characters, but I'd be willing to do almost any female character. Which seems like it would work out fine for you. I've done a lot of Katara and Ty Lee, but I'm willing to try out anyone.

You can ignore this actual journal if you want, it's just what I was signed into when I hit comment, or look through it. But keep in mind it's for an AU capslock crack RP.

As far as how you found this journal goes, it's okay.  I just ask that out of curiosity.  It doesn't really change anything!

That... is such high praise, and I really am humbled by it.  I've been RPing Azula since last summer, and throughout the show's run, one glaring facet of her personality remained constant: her sociopathy.  Even at the very end, she was still a sociopath.  People tend to dismiss it by invoking her "ability to feel" -- but they're missing the point of her breakdown and personality at large.  Sociopaths aren't completely devoid of emotion ( the closest thing to that is a schizoid ).  Their expression of ( ... )

Well, if you don't mind my using preexisting journals, then I'd like to just use an account I already have. I have this one for Katara, and I also just picked up Ursa in the same RP (biteyouback).

The only thing is that we couldn't RP directly in posts to the journals, because entries are reserved for the game I'm in. So if it's alright to just use your Azula journal for it (or any applicable community), then I'll go for Katara or Ursa (or both) for simplicity's sake.

Oh, no, I don't mind that at all!  I wouldn't ask you to create a separate account.  I'm gonna' go ahead and friend your journals under this journal and my Azula journal.

I understand not being able to use your journals for posting.  What we could do is use filters, wherein you "lock" your entries exclusively to me.  It's a form of privatizing entries.  It's okay if you decline.  Whichever way you decide, we can definitely use my Azula journal, as the community I'm a member of has no obligations attached regarding the usage of the characters' personal journals.
