Coloring tutorial.
As usual, written for PSPX. I don't think it's unable to translate, though.

We're going from
to

1. Well, all icons start with a base. Here you are:

[As usual, a ready base here. It involved curves, duplicating and stuff before it was good to use, so...]

2. This time, we work with color layers and base only. So, make a new layer and fill it with #a3bbe1 [
], and set it to Overlay, 100%.

3. Create another layer. Fill it with #fce7c2 [
], and set it to Burn, 100%.

4. Yet another layer. Fill it with #7a3e5e [
]. Set it to Overlay, 100%.

5. Here comes the blue Exclusion layer. Make a new layer, fill it with #041436 [
], and set it to, quite obviously, Exclusion, 100%.

6. Another layer. Fill it with #dfe2b4 [
], and set it to Burn, 100%.

7. Now, select your base, right click it and select Duplicate. Drag your duplicated base to top. Then, go to Adjust -> Hue and Saturation -> Hue/Saturation/Lightness. Make the settings Saturation -100, Lightness 0. Set this layer to Overlay, 100%.

8. After that, make another layer. Fill it with #f0ecd4 [
], and set it to Multiply, 100%.

9. The layers, they are neverending. Make another one. Fill it with #060f2e [
], and, once again, set it to Exclusion, 100%.

10. Duplicate your desaturated base and drag it to top. The blending mode and opacity should be at Overlay, 100%. If it's not, change the blending mode to such.

11. HERE COMES TEXT! Use #5d1731 and type something up. It doesn't matter what. My settings:
Big(ger) text: Carpenter ICG, size six, kerning 25, all letters small.
Small(er) text: Times New Roman, size one, kerning 300, all letters small, too.

12. Paste this gradient (I'm pretty sure it's PSP's default) ->
. Set it to Color, 40%.

13. BORDER TIME!!!
Make two new layers. Fill the bottom one with #efe7df [
]. Now, Select All [Crtl+A, select it manually, the way you do it doesn't matter], and go to Selections -> Modify -> Select selection Borders. Choose Inside, make the border's width be 3, and make sure the Anti-alias box is ticked.
After you've done with that, you will see a floating selection on your layer. Go to the Selections menu and click Invert. After that, press Delete on your keyboard to erase the inside of your selection and leave the border alone.

14. The upper layer: fill it with #50202e [
], and do everything like in the previous step. HOWEVER! Make the border width ONE!

15. Merge all the layers [Layers -> Merge -> Merge All (flatten)]. Save [I highly recommend to use .png], and YOU'RE DONE!

Rules:
- Enjoy.
- Don't copy exactly. Change the colors according to base. These won't work for every one.
- I'd love to see what you've done.
- Why don't you friend fireandwind for more icons and/or tutorials?
