Heh, the arm pit of southern Georgia. I don't know if it's still around, but there used to be a place called Jo Anne's Chili Bordello there where served GREAT chili. The eye candy was OK, but the chili more than made up for it.
Also the Jacksonville Planetarium used to have a thing called cosmic concerts on the weekends. Dunno if they still have those or not but there were fun in high school. Ponte Vedra beach at night is an excellent place to go and look at stars, you can even see satellites passing by.
There are some very rough places in Jax so be sure to pack your heater.
Jacksonville turned out to be 48 hours worth of a good time, even down to the homeless guys on the street being friendly and offering crafts for sale instead of just outright panhandling. I found out from one of 'em, what places it would be "smart to avoid." And because I got bored, decided to walk on through. Maybe I was mistaken for a plainclothes cop or something, but nobody bothered with me
