Ahahaha Raven-certified. Also, good on you for including the clean drinking water. That's been one of the best things I've been happy to have when stuck somewhere unexpectedly.
Those little hot-packs that heat up when exposed to air are also kind of awesome if you get stuck. Not a necessity, but a nicety.
I don't even like going from my home to grandma's house without at least a 500 ml supply within reach. But on a road trip, especially if I'm not going to see a "OPEN" sign or a decent mountain stream for a while, I go for about 2 to 4L.
Funny story: After driving through the Blue Ridge mountains down to visit a friend in NC a few years ago, I mentioned to him that when I got thirsty, I stopped alongside the road, broke some ice off the side of the hill, and it melted down into fresh clean water in my travel mug within minutes. He then let me know, that higher up in the hills there's all sorts of hillbillies with meth labs, and the water streaming down the side of the mountain might not be quite so clean. YIKES.
