Tell the landlady. How else is she going to know? There may very well be legal limits to how many people can live in that house.

Probably... I feel bad abandoning the mess to her, but on the other hand, she should take responsibility for her own property.

If you give her some warning, maybe she'll kick some of 'em out and you can stay, if you want to. Even if there isn't a legal constraint, she could say there was. Or maybe her insurance says something about it.
