While Ace is still a baby, can I get a hold of any engineers in Luceti? I've heard that the blacksmiths can do some pretty incredible things and I have a really big challenge for anyone who thinks they're up to it ( Read more... )

[He lets out a happy sigh.] Do you let people ride with you?

No way.

[Unless he REALLY likes them or it's an emergency.]

I probably shouldn't ask, but... what's the challenge?

And, um... not interested. [In tattoos, that is.]

You're not interested in the challenge?

It's to make an engine powered purely by extremely intense flames. The double difficulty of using the fire for that and not melting from the flames, eh.

I can draw up blueprints of how it was done before, but I can't make things like that to save my life.

Nnnn... it's a tempting offer, but I'm not really taking requests right now.

It's the part about tattoos that I'm not interested in.

I see. Pity.

I was hoping to give my brother a taste of freedom even locked off in this place.

[Oh, hey, someone he recognizes. And a bit of an interesting post to boot. His engineering experience is fairly specialized and limited, but that does pique his interest.]

What is the challenge, out of curiosity?

An engine capable of using pure flames as fuel while still withstanding the extreme temperatures.

I can make blueprints of how it was done at home, but I can't make anything like that.

Oh my. What would you be needing that for?

To give my brother a taste of freedom.

Tattoos... what're those?

[She asks almost dismissively, but it's clear that the concept fascinates her. And hey, it's Marco talking about something.]

Also, whaddya need an engineer for? If you need someone to do a big challenge for you, isn't that a hero-type thing?

Symbols inked into your skin to represent something important.

It's not a hero thing. It's a project for my friend.

I guess I could get something cool painted on my feathers! But that's a bit different. [She's never considered that before though. But that's an idea!]

... A project, huh? What kinda project?

Would it stick?

A birthday-Christmas present. He used to have one like it back home.

[Oh. Blacksmiths! That would be him, then.]

What do you have in mind? [He might be able to make some time for it, if he moves some things around. If not, he can get Hiccup and Winry on board.]

I need an engine capable of powering through salt water using pure fire; but still strong enough to withstand the flames, and light enough that it can go on a small skiff.

I can draw up the blueprints of how it was done before, but that's the limit of my abilities. I'm not good with metals or making anything.

[Well. Engines. Sokka frowns, because he knows how those projects usually go.]

I've tried an engine before. They never run. It doesn't matter what you do.

Even if you have a continuous source?
