I went to the doctors yesterday to complain about the chronic neck/shoulder pain Ive had for about 6 years. Less than 24 hours later I had had an X ray.    How is that for service! And people moan about the NHS. I just walked in and had it and walked out again, and they didnt even know who I was.
Of course they SHOULD have known who I was ( Read more... )

That *is* impressive.

When I mention National Health Care here, everybody moans about "waiting times". Like they've lived elsewhere and experienced it. I mean, how bad is it really?

It can very alot from what you need to be seen for , where you are being seen and how old you are. Amber always got first class lightning treatment for her cancer, there was no waiting times. My dad had to wait a number of months for an MRI scan and I remember getting results back for breast cancer can take 6 weeks, as opposed to private care which get it in in on the day. last year one of my aunts thought she had a breast lump and rather than wait 6 weeks she paid about £600 to be checked on privately. It was money well spent really, just for peace of mind. People do moan about the NHS but they have no right to, they dont seem to realise jusrt excactly how expensive it is to run and that being seen and treated actually costs thousands of pounds. I think its still a better system than health insurance, but that it works most effectively if you have a little insurance, or go private for things that you dont want to wait around for, such as cancer test results. After all you cant put a price on your health!

Getting an x-ray in 24 hours is unusal in British medicine?

I've been on waiting lists for months to see specialists. Including when I had to see a neurologist for a severe tic that was inpinging my ability to work and go to school. AND I paid out the nose ( ... )
