One day when I have a real reason to get stuff done on time using my PC and Windows... dies. It just wouldn't move on from the loading screen
( Read more... )
You had to reinstall the OS twice just because the boot sequence froze at the loading screen? What Windows version do you have? Did you try booting up in safe mode? You know, pressing F8 after the POST? I have Windows XP and during the past few years it has worked quite well. Huge departure from my Win9x days, I recall... The only problems I've had were hardware-related, when my CPU, PSU and video cards burned out on different occasions. All in all, I'd say your situation might be software-related. Files don't just corrupt themselves. Maybe it's some kind of malware that caught on to your system somewhere online.
I've wanted to comment on your blog for quite a while now, but never saw an appropriate opening. ^_^
It's Windows XP Pro. It wouldn't load in any of the boot sequences; normal, last used, safe
I think I damaged it whilst turning the PC on and off a few times trying to get my media drive to come online (dodgy cable doesn't always see it's there). Since it turned on normally twice, minus seeing the drive, then wouldn't load fully.
I don't think it's a Windows problem, more specific to my machine.
Only had to install twice since I installed on the wrong drive initially. TBH I could have left the OS on the other drive, but then it would have messed up the file system... that I'm totally keeping ordered.
Ha ha, that's ok, feel free to comment on anything ^^

Then add a UK keyboard, set it to default, make sure to hit apply, then you can delete the US one
In the meantime, £ on US keyboards is usually where # is on UK.. failing that hold down alt, then using the numpad type 0163, then let go ;) Magic.
