Now, the following will be the last paragraph of the article.  It doesn't really give anything away, but it's one of the best things I have read in YEARS... many of them...  Enough that after I post this I'm off to subscribe to his column.

Wow... I think I love that guy. (Those pretty eyes of his don't hurt, either.) I bought this book for the library (grumblegrumble somebody checked it out before I could grumblegrumble)and I think I may just end up buying the series anyway. A lof the the boards I visit are discussing this very thing, and it's split pretty evenly with those that will see it and those that won't. I absolutely refuse to be a sheep to any religion...I'm in the see it camp, of course. I didn't boycott Chronicles of Narnia just because it had x-tian tones, so I really don't get those folks who's knickers are in a wad over this one. Plus, it's about damn time we had a strong female main character. Girls around the world do indeed need to read this book.

Oddly enough, I had never heard of the book before they decided to make a movie out of it. I have NO idea how it slipped under my radar.
