I like how this really highlighted the awkwardness of that moment. I just wish it was a little bit longer!

I like the take on the topic! A short but punchy piece.

I read this when you posted it, but I don't think I ever told you. I really like this, and I agree with catnipfields that you going with something other then love was a really cool idea.

This echoes my reluctance to meet with a psychologist perfectly. They've been trained in the art of "drawing us out", and making us want to talk to them. But, ultimately, they are people who are paid to listen to us -- whether they want to or not. That's never been a fair substitute for me for a real, warm, and meaningful human interaction, and training and college be damned.

Nicely and succinctly created. :-) I'm left wondering why she's even there in the first place, and what's driving her to come back the following week.

Exactly! I had ONE psychologist who I really loved because she listened to me and supported my worries, while giving me really good tips on how to become less anxious. But that was one and that was quite a few years ago, so in my experience, I've just drawn further and further away from psychologists/therapists.

I'm also really thrilled that's what you thought at the end. I wrote this little drabble based off a character of mine who is in the FBI and lost her partner, so the FBI is REQUIRING her to seek therapy for it while her personality and background would much rather deal with it on her own.

I'm really glad it had you thinking. Thank you so much for the comment. =)
