I agree; "revolution" can hold different meanings. Hell, even cars are advertised as having 'revolutionary' new designs! I was attempting to make clear my use of REVOLUTION in what I consider its most true meaning: fundamental social change.
i think my major critique here is that none of the actions you are suggesting are inherently revolutionary either, at least in the sense that you seem to be going for (and i may be mis-reading what you are trying to communicate).
of course riding a bike isn't revolutionary, kids ride bikes every day with no purpose behind it. but then again every day people also form groups/cells/cadres or whatever that are also not revolutionary in the sense we are talking about, and that will only serve to replace (if successful) the current status quo with another of the same stripe.
i guess to me a large part of being "revolutionary" in any sense is the mindset behind it. maybe i'm just not willing to dismiss the small acts which i would call "revolutionary" that happen every day, doing so seems to fall in line with the "why aren't you doing what i'm doing" elitism that is prevalent in some activist communities.
realistically every person that considers themselves a revolutionary in any sense could be in a place where their bodies could be

First off, I'm not feeling too offended by the content of your criticism because in a big way it's kind of like, "no shit," but the whole, "a word to friends/comrades" header makes it seem like you are pointing something that should be obvious to a group of morons that don't get it. So, assuming that you weren't meaning to insult everyone that you knew would be reading your livejournal, I agree: well said. Thank you

2. Skill sharing and cultural work take place, subtly, everywhere in the radical (albeit NOT revolutionary) community. On one side, there are bands who point out the shit system that we swim in as an attempt to make the water known to the fish, and also to make participation in the Revolution appealing and sexy and pertinent and necessary (aren't there bands and people who make you feel like that?) Yeah, a reading group is probably the most efficient way to bring a local group of folks onto the same page, and so I say let's do it! That's a good, small satrt at 'broadening our reach and influence.' But, 'lifestyle anarchists' (as I call them as reference to who I think you're criticizing) do feel that networking and communicating and mustering up support and morale against Leviathan are necessary components to living. Who gives a fuck, tactically, if they ride bikes instead of cars, eat vegan instead of whatever, or steal to survive rather than sell their time to rich people. If, as you say, it's all the same, then it shouldn't be

I am not talking about revolution as some sort of personal metaphysical new age freedom.
I am not talking about a personalistic ideology of social accommodation that presents no threat to the existing powers_______ ( ... )
