Yale is lovely, actually. There are many fun things to do in the area, and it's only and hour and a half to NYC. If you're looking for soem good eats, at the corner of... I think church st, right by the green, there's a place called Claire's. Highly recommended. And then you can look at snooty people. :)
I think Kennebunkport is more of a destination though, unless you're thinking of going back to school?

We've spent a few long weekends at inns in ME, so not a TOTALLY strange place to visit..but we'll see!
