From the sublime to the ridiculous

First, the serious question: does anybody have any tips on convincing Open Office to comply with APA format? My two problems are getting a different header for the first page (so the entire paper doesn't say Running head: RUNNING HEAD but rather Running head: RUNNING HEAD on the title page and just RUNNING HEAD the rest of the way through) and ( Read more... )

if you figure out OpenOffice, let me know? I had to use APA formatting when I was a student and ended up doing things by hand.

Thanks for the offer. I found a template on their website in the meantime (couldn't access the site earlier today for whatever reason). In case you ever have need of or use for it, here's the link: http://templates.openoffice.org/en/node/3193

Barrowman is awesome. However, you may be one of the few other people in Southeast Connecticut to realize that, alas.

You're very welcome. Where are you going to go, if you don't mind my asking?

The title page on the template asks for more than is officially supposed to be on there, but that's easy enough to delete away.

I vote for Sir Elton: he has way more instantly recognizable fashion tics and fabulous hit tunes, even if he doesn't mince as attractively as Barrowman.

I'm afraid I don't know much about APA formatting. Is it possible to make the title page in a separate document, merge the two as a PDF or similar file, and turn it in that way?

Yeah, that's the direction I'm leaning.

That does sound like a viable workaround. For the moment, I've found a template on the Open Office website (which I couldn't access earlier, not sure why) which looks like it'll do the trick. However, I'm filing that possibility away for future reference just in case!

I had to use that work-around when a publisher demanded a hard copy of a story on white bond paper with a title page. I do love Open Office, though. I will not be going back to Word.

Ouch! Yeah, I don't have much inclination to go back to Word either. *nods*

Used to be a Mac user, but I've been PC for awhile. Thanks though.

And yes, if I do this, there will be pics. *nods*
